We just got a kitten approx. 7-8 weeks old. She has watery discharge coming from both eyes and green build-up in the corners by the nose. What can we do to get rid of it (other than going to the vet)?

Well I have had kittens and two cats with eye infections over the years. I called the vet and the nurse gave me this advice which actually has worked every time except once. My cats had like yellow stuff coming out and sometimes the eye would close shut. You dissolve salt in warm water. Using cotton wool clean out the cats eye with the solution three times a day. I used to make new solution each time and use clean cotton wool each time and never dip the used ctton wool back in the container.

this is a asign of an infection. the only thing you can do at home is keep her eyes clean by wiping them carefully with a warm wash cloth to make her more comfortable until you can get her to the vet. It would be like you having a severe sinus infection and there are no home remedies for you when you are blowing green gunk out of your nose.
you will have to take her to the vet.

Definitly see a vet. Some infections can be passed from Cat to Human, if you have children they could be at risk as well as yourself. Also it will end up being more expensive if you wait.

You have no choice other than going to a vet. That is the only place you can get the antibiotics the kitten needs to clear up the infection. Don't delay with this or she may lose her sight. It is not something you mess around with "home remedies".

Nothing, because you need antibiotics and possibly an anti-inflammatory. If left untreated, eye infections can cause blindness. Please take your kitten to the vet.
