To become a six minute miler, you need to put in some miles. You can generally start with 15 miles/week and increase by 15% each week until you get to 30. Once you are at 30 for 3 weeks, you have a solid base and can introduce some speedwork into your regimen. 1 day of intervals per week (4 x 400 @ 75 second pace with 3 minutes rest in between) and 1 day of varied speed (100 sprint, 100 slow jog for 2 miles) will get you to your goal.

Huh! What's the excitement? How tall are you? What do you do when not sleeping, eating, in class?
You don't need to run a lot of miles; just make up your mind to do it. At that age, I ran the mile in less than 4 minutes, but I was a farm boy, chopping wood, milking the cow, planting the garden, carrying water up from the spring. At home I ran just for the fun of it; I was never in a formal program, but when the coach timed me, I made each quarter mile lap under 60 seconds.
Try it! Just motivate yourself!

work your way up to 2 miles. After you've reached two miles push yourself and get a friend to time you around and call your times so you can know when your on pace. I'm an NCAA D-1 runner so if you have any more questions just email me. Hope I helped
