Has the muzzle velocity been decreased on the Red Ryder BB Gun since 60 years ago. I broke maaaany bottles with mine then. Anyone know if it has been changed in this politically correct, safe environment in which we find ourselves?

Evidently, Daisy, whether it is the original company, or not, has reduced the springs, and the power of these famous BB guns, for either legal consequences/liability or 'political correctness'.
My 'Pappy' (paternal grandfather) passed an original "Red Ryder" down to my Dad, and to me. This awesome collectors' item could bust Mason jars and Coke bottles over 10 yards away and STILL can!
My Dad bought one of the newer ones a few years before he passed away (some time in the 90's) and this 'toy' can't even CRACK either one, with multiple shots!
Sometimes, "Political Correctness" really S+X!

Pop bottles were worth .02c or a nickel for a big one so I doubt if I shot too many bottles.

I don't know about 60 years ago, but, 45 the Daisy Red Ryder BB Gun was a pretty powerful BB gun. I have no idea what the exact MV was but my guess would be 450-500fps. I was over at a friends house a few weeks ago, his kid had a new Red Ryder and it would barely put a dent in an aluminum pop can. Sad

The Daisy Red Ryder came out about 1939, I think. I have a 1940 ad that says they cost $3.95. I can attest to the fact that they have decreased a lot in power over the years. I had one of the originals made in the '40s. It would imbed a BB in a pine board. My brother and I were given one of the newer models in 1951 and it would hardly dent a pine board.
Safety issues are probably a concern. A shot on the body of a person with the old original would create a bad wound, the new ones would probably do no damage unless it hit you in the eye.

Im really not sure of the exact specs but when I was a child I had a Red Rider and my Father had his original one from when he was a kid.I shot them both I'd say they were equal power. But my fathers was alot nicer than mine. You can really tell that the company has cut corners over the years.

my son's bb gun can't do that (bottle breaking). It just bounces off so. I bought it 4 yrs ago. So i guess muzzle velocity has decreased...
