What are some good tips for them?

Although I do fish for walleye in lake system's, MOST of the time I fish in river/stream system's for them.

The reason I love river/stream walleye?

They are MUCH easier to target.

Jigs in various color's are "primo" for river/stream walleye. A 1/4 OZ "wide-gap" jig in Black W/live Leech or Berkley 4" black curly-tailed grub is an EXCELLENT bait. (At night, the "glow jigs" in chartruese W/Berkley Chartruese curly-tailed grubs work WELL!)

Also, a Jig with a large "jig spinner" is excellent too!

I also like to throw deep diving Rapala's and Crawfish imitators. YUM makes a great mudbug tube that REALLY looks like a craw.

Look for slow moving water, and sharp drops to deeper water. They also LOVE "rip-rap" and "rock-humps". Start your fishing expedition 2 hours before dark and expect to start getting "hits" right before dark.

Remember that Smallies will be in the vicinity!

Good luck!

I find them on the outside of slow moving bends in the river, which are the deepest pockets. They will be near the break between shallow and deeper water, either shallow, deep or in transition. Beside weeds is a good bet. Use a jig with a live minnow or troll a spinner rig with live bait slowly.

I fish Walleyes in the Saginaw river going and coming from Saginaw Bay in Lake Huron all the time. I fish them the same way I do in the Bay.
Meat, plastic or metal, it all depends on what they're biting on.
