Boil some water, add some macaroni noodles, and little salt, keep macaroni noodles in until soft, drain the water out, stir in as much velveeta in you want, add a little butter, and a little milk (depending on how creamy you like them), stir and enjoy!!
Good Luck!!

We use a box mix (I know you asked for homemade)... it's not the kind with the powder mix, though. It's like Velveeta Deluxe Original macaroni and cheese that has a packet of cheese sauce. Take one box and cook as directed. After adding the packet of cheese sauce, add 1/4 c. cubed velveeta cheese and 1/4 c. shredded cheddar cheese. It will be really thick, so you should have some milk on hand to make it more creamy. Like I said, I know you asked for homemade but this is TO DIE FOR!!! We get compliments on it everywhere we take it, and never have leftovers!

This is so much better than store bought box, frozen, or deli-
and the best part is you can improvise with whatever you may have, or can make vegetarian if you wish!
Basic recipe:
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon salt,
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 cups milk
2 cups grated cheese
1 more cup grated cheese
1 tsp ground mustard or 2 tbs prepared mustard
bread crumbs
2 more tablespoons butter or margarine
6 cups cooked macaroni
in a saucepan over very low heat, melt butter or margarine, add flour and stir with a fork or a whip until pasty. Slowly add milk- 1/4 cup at a time, and stir, continue to add and stir milk, add 2 cups cheese, mustard and salt and pepper and stir until thick and cheese is melted. Pour cheese mixture over cooked macaroni in a casserole, add additional 1 cup of cheese, stir, and sprinkle bread crumbs and pats of butter or margerine on top- bake at 30 for 40 minutes
Great additions: 1/2 cup diced green pepper or ham. Yumm...

I just saw Bobby Flays Throw down on mac n cheese and both recipes were really yummy. But they were a bit different. Bobby's was a bit more creamy and Delilah's was real home cooking comfort food. Here's the site for both recipes.

Get Barilla elbow pasta (cooks up evenly without any issues over cooking etc..) Go in the pasta isle, Ragu has a cheese sauce.
I used to use Stouffers mac and cheese frozen, but started making my own with Barilla and Ragu cheese and my family goes crazy over it!! Boil the elbow mac, drain and pour over the ragu, stir and you are done.

Use fresh cheeses and mix sharp with creamy - that makes it extra special...don't forget the butter and add a little half and half instead of milk...

Go to recipes.com or one of those sites for several different ways to fix this comfort food. My personal way to fix mac n cheese has to have the cheese burnt and crispy.
