They may live on in spirit, but you can no longer hold a loved one, speak to them, or just simply look at them anymore. The body is gone and having something there for so long and then not physically there anymore leaves an emptiness.

Funerals aren't for those who have died. They are for those who are still alive, to collectively honor the memory of the departed. People cry for all the same reasons they cry at any emotional event. Someone can believe in destination heaven but still cry from their grief in loss.

When you die, you don't bring anything to heaven, so people cry at funeral because the dead one might not pass the heaven door without bringing any money for the pass.

I was just thinking about that the other day; if they believe their loved one is living on somewhere else, why are they sad? It's because they know that the lie about their loved ones' soul floating to Heaven when they die is a lie. According to the Bible, we ARE a soul; we don't HAVE a soul (Genesis 2:7). Nowhere does it teach that part of us lives on in another realm. It's just a popular belief that's been floating around for centuries to make people feel better when someone they love dies. But the Bible teaches a real hope for our dead loved ones at John 5:28.

I cried because I lost not only my mother, but my best friend. I can never hug her or here her voice on this earth again. However, I do believe I will see her again in Heaven without a doubt in my mind. That's why I cried. Really had nothing to do with Heaven, it was all self pity on my part she is fine.

We cry not for the person who died, but for ourselves and sometimes for the family that was left without a loved one. Even though I know that if the person loved God that they would be in a far better place, I will still miss them...and for at least a little while, something will have been lost from my life.

Why does a father cry at his daughters wedding? He is loosing his innocent little daughter and some of the tears are happy tears as well. I know I cry happy and sad tears for lost family members. I am sad to see them go and I know life will not be the same without them but I was happy knowing where they were going and that there would be no more pain for them!

what ever ones personal beliefs are there is a sadness that comes with it. these are people we love and care for. it is normal to feel the sorrow of a lost love ed one. the best example I can use is my grandma. I use to call her everyday. see her as often as I could. I knew that when she died she was going to heaven. but It is still a very hard thing to deal with. There where times when you want to pick up the phone and talk to that person and can not. the tears are not so much for them as it is for us.
