I'm helping my sister plan her wedding. We will have 55 tables. on each table there will one 14 ounce cup filled with M&M. the thing is, i have to buy the bags of M&M and they only come in 5 pound bags. so how many 5 pound bags do i need to fill all the 55 tables with 14 ounce cups on them?

You can't figure this one out purely by mathematics. Since the M& M's are neither liquid nor a solid chunk ( rounded pieces, etc.) you can't do the regular equations. You will need to buy a bag and see how many cups it fills and figure accordingly after that.

Are you actually inviting over 400 people to this wedding? Buy one bag and see how many cups one bag fills. Then you'll know how many bags you need to buy. You can't measure by liquid ounces because m&ms are solid.

16 ounces in a pound....so 11 bags since they will not be exactly 5 pounds and a few might be broken/deformed.

*kills the math problem and runs away screaming*

0_0 that is a lot of tables though.....is there anyway you can get a bigger size bag from like bjs or sams, i think if you buy them bigger, it lowers the cost.

I just saw a commercial that you can now order personalized M&M's. Here is the link.
