Since Prilosec OTC came out, many insurance companies wont cover Nexium any longer. I was originally prescribed Nexium which worked good but once the Prilosec went over the counter Insurance cut me off. So I tried Prilosec and it works pretty good too, just make sure you take all 14 days of it.

I have tried both and I can say from experience that Nexium kicks butt over prilosec.

Nexium. Mother has GERD and got not relief with anything else. I guess she had been or 10 or 11 other medications

This is up to your doctor and you and how much agony you are in.Had no side effects woth Nexium.
