I'm helping my sister plan her wedding. We will have 55 tables. on each table there will one 14 ounce cup filled with M&M. the thing is, i have to buy the bags of M&M and they only come in 5 pound bags. so how many 5 pound bags do i need to fill all the 55 tables with 14 ounce cups on them?

You sure will have to buy a lot of m&m's.

There are 16 ounces to each pound.
You have 55 tables with 14 ounce cups.
55 x 14 = 770 ounces divided by 16 = 48.125 pounds of m&m's that you will have to buy.

5 divided into 48.125 = 9.625 bags......rounded to 10 bags

WOW

You need about 49 bags of M&M's. There is 16 ounces in a pound. You can solve it like this: 55 bags x 14 oz. cups= 770 . 770/16 oz in a pound= 48.125 bags of M&M's about 49 bags of M&M's. Have fun at the wedding!

Each pound is 16 ounces, but it might be worth while testing the containers.

The containers you say hold 14 ounces, may hold 14 fluid ounces, candy may be a little different.

I'd buy some and see how much they hold.

55 x 14 = 770 / 16 ounces (one pound) =48.125 so you would need about 49 five pound bags. good luck.
