No! A Medic is like a doctor's assistant ! You will know First Aid, CPR, Basic Life Support and other skills that a medical/clinical assistant would learn!
but, you will also learn soldier skills such as survival, combat skills, weapons,etc....
You will learn more as an Army medic than your civilian counterpart! more hands on, real life experiences.
What you learn as an Army medic will help you decide if you want to continue later and get into medical School to become a Doctor.

Google: AMEDDC &S Ft.Sam Houston,TX or find an Army
recruiter that is a MEDIC for more information.

You can be trained as a medic in the Army. This will provide you with good experiance in the medical field but it is a long leap from being a M.D. which requires 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school and several years of internship and residency in the medical field you wish to pursue.
If you are interested in the long haul to becoming a doctor go to college first. If college isn't what you are looking for, you can speak to a service recruiter. All of the services have them but remember that their interest is in getting you to "sign on the dotted line"
If you think that you want a job in the Army, Air Force or Navy go speak to a recruiter and see what they have to say. Sign nothing on your first visit. You are only there for information purposes. Take someone you trust to listen to what is being said. Remember above all else, that if you don't have it in writting, then it isn't necessarily so. Read every word of the contract. This isn't a job that you can decide to just walk from if you don't like it. They will have a contract with you that will be binding for the period of your enlistment. So be sure that you read, and understand before you sign.

They provide the training for enlisted medics.

If you're particularly interested in being a medic, instead of going through the local recruiter, start with the Health Care Recruiting Team: http://www.armymedicine.army.mil/jobs/recruiting-military.html

as a medic, you will be provided all the training necessary. if you want to become a doctor, however, that's all on you first before you can seek a Commission.
