Since Lewis and Hopkins never fought anybody who was in their prime and any good as champion, I do not consider either fighter to be really dominant. However, I will give Hopkins the edge over Lewis in dominance. Here are the reasons why.

1. Hopkins was a unified champion in his weight class. Lewis mainly was only the puppet of the WBC and was either unwilling or unable to get the other belts.

2. Hopkins beat 20 straight tomato cans, but at least he beat everybody he got in the ring with as champion. Glass jaw Lewis kept getting knocked out by bums like Rahman and McCall who could not beat up most girl scouts. Even in wins like his win over Shannon Briggs, Lewis struggled. Hopkins only lost his titles after 2 fixed decisions to Taylor unlike Lewis who quit to avoid real competition..

Bernard Hopkins lost a few fights in his time and had a draw against the ordinary Segundo Mercado. Please. I think the most dominant champion of the last ten years isn't even mentioned here. It's Joe Calzaghe. Like him or not, he won the title ten years ago and has yet to lose and he is for real. EDIT: Anyone who thinks Lennox Lewis was unimpressive never saw his fights against Razor Ruddock, Tommy Morrison, Shannon Briggs, Frans Botha, Andrew Golota, Evander Holyfield, Frank Bruno, Mike Weaver, Michael Grant, Vitali Klitschko, Mike Tyson, Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman (especially the rematches). To deny him the crdeit he is due is like saying Bernard Hopkins shouldnt go down as an all time great because he had lousy competition or because he headbutted a lot. Who cares? They were two great fighters who lost a few fights but over the course of their careers proved themselves against the best fighters of their eras.

Lennox Lewis has faced Ossie Ocasio, Mike Weaver, Glenn McCrory, Tony Tucker, Frank Bruno, Oliver McCall, Evander Holyfield, Francois Botha, Hasim Rahman, and Mike Tyson.....Bernard Hopkins has faced Roy Jones Jr, Lupe Aquino, John David Jackson, Glen Johnson, Simon Brown, Keith Holmes, Felix Trinidad, Carl Daniels, William Joppy, Oscar De La Hoya, Jermain Taylor, Antonio Tarver, and Winky Wright. Lennox Lewis has won the world heavyweight title twice, Bernard Hopkins has won the world middleweight and light heavyweight titles. do the math !!!

Hopkins. His string of consecutive defense may very well hold throughout his lifetime, as Hopkins himself said! Lewis was probably the most dominant HW of this era, but I don't think its a stretch to say that a current HW like Wladimir Klitschko will take that title from Lewis. But comparing the 2, definitely Hopkins

Bernard Hopkins is class and the epitomy of the word pugilist. Once again all the idiots who say he would have no chance against Hagler and Duran, blah blah blah, everyone said that about Hopkins against Trinadad, and DLH, and even Winky. B-Hop would have a shot against any of those middle weights when he was in his prime. Granted you are probably not going to see a knockout or a very pretty fight, but thats why B-Hop wins, he defends, frustrates, locks, butts, and talks his oppenents untill they want to sit down and never get back up again. By this point B-Hop then eats his opponents up for the last five rounds. B-Hop fought every great fighter around, and he moved up and down weight classes to do it. B-Hop is one of the best of all time and needs his due credit.

LOL! Hopkins by far! Lewis lost the re-match with Holyfield and really didn't fight anyone after that. He beat Tyson, but who couldn't? He was getting the crap knocked out of him against V. Klitschko, and used his knowledge and head to get a cut. Then he proceeded to do nothing but lace the cut! He should have been disqualified for such open-gloved tactics! What a piece of work he is? Then he retired instead of a re-match. How in the hell can you put Lewis up there like that?

Lewis is not nearly as old as Hopkins, and by punishment standards, still relatively young. Bring him out against Wladimir, and he won't make it to the 8th round!

Hopkins. Lewis was a damn good champion, but Hopkins broke the record with most successful defenses at middleweight.

Hopkins reigned longer- Lewis really came and left as champ in an aging heavyweight division

hopkins is the most dominant pound for pound. there just doesn't seem to be a lot of great talent in the heavy weights like in the past. the best fighters are in the middle weights look at the fights in the last ten years that brought in the most money

Hopkins EASILY! Lummox Lewis fought alot of washed-up fighters and ducked alot of others. His style is jab-hold-jab-hold-jab-hold. Boring! Hopkins is a warrior, Lewis was just plain overrated.

Besides, at least Hopkins has a chin.
