bathing in tomato sauce doesn't work well at all, and I can't figure out why people continue to use it.
Once skunk spray has gotten into clothes, they have to be thrown out. As far as the skin, the stink can be removed with a mixture of liquid dishwashing soap (which will remove body oil and break surface tension of the water) baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide (which will neutralize the smell).

Well I figure that someone made that up, because they thought that if you were dumb enough to get sprayed by a skunk then just maybe you will be dumb enough to hop in a bath tub full of tomato sauce.

Byderule is right ... skunk parmegian.
Seriously, I don't believe it works. When I was a kid, our dog got sprayed, and I bathed him in tomato sauce. Afterwards, he smelled like a skunk who had been hit with rotten tomatoes.

Tomato sauce contains vinegar which, is acidic, and therefore gets rid of the smell.
