I've been counting calories, and my doctor told me to stick to about 1500 a day. Yesterday I didnt quite make that many. By the end of the day when I was about to go to bed, I realized I'd only eaten once that day... what happens if you dont get all the calories you're supposed to have? Does it set back your diet?

I depends on how much weight you need to lose, if you have more than 20-30 lbs then it doesn't hurt to decrease your calories. One meal a day( depending on your balanced foods for that meal) might be just enough. People do not realize that less is better. twto meals for a more active lifestyle. if you are sedentary then one is sufficient. your age and metabolism is also a factor in how much is enough for your own body. if you eat adequate fruits and vegies (that includes beans) grains, seeds and nuts. then you should be ust fine. If you control the quality of your diet the quantity will take care of itself. if you are full you are full. Good luck and God bless.

There's a lot more to the diet than just calories. Depending on what you do on a day to day basis you will burn X amount of calories, if you don't cosume enough you'll feel a bit drained of energy, otherwise it won't hurt. If you plan on doing a lot of work that day or the next you might feel it.

I'm doing the opposite, I'm gaining weight. I eat as close to 6000 calories a day as I can, but I work out and am always on my feet moving at work so I burn a lot.

This is why you can't just diet, you need to exercise too. And hopefully your only meal wasn't a big mac with fries although that might be more than 1500 calories.

one day wont make a huge difference. unless your in a competition. you will get fatser results my splitting that 1500 calories into smaller meals. 5 300 calorie meals spread out through the day will speed up your weight loss.

Yes, you dont lose fat that way - you only lose water weight and muscle which also means you are slowing down your metabolism and will gain it back.
you have to eat small meals 5-6 times a day to lose fat and keep your blood sugar from crashing.

One day isn't going to affect you much.
Just double up the next day...3000 calories.

Just kidding!

Don't worry too much about it. One day isn't going to hurt you.
