Show him a spray, gum or mints and say something like "they're good I always have them handy to keep my breath fresh" then offer him one, if he's smart enough he'll get the idea but if he still don't, then even telling him his breath smells might still not work.

Start using breath mints in front of and when you're working with this person. He probably doesn't know. Offer him one and if he refuses say "sorry but you need one" This may sound cruel but I really think it's the only way. Leaving mints on his desk anonymously will humiliate the man into thinking the whole office has been talking about his bad breath behind his back.

he could have a dental problem that he cant afford to fix. I know that when my wisdom tooth abcessed (i was waiting for an appointment to get it removed) my breath was terrible, worse than if i had licked the a hole of a skunk. (lol) he could be in the same boat and until you know different offer him gum and altoids or whatever and hopefully it will go away. you could also talk to human resources or the manager about the problem and see if maybe they can help this guy out.

Use humor, hey did something crawl in your mouth last night and die???? Use this, then hand him some ments. It could be a medical/dental problem, tell him get it checked out, floss, waterpick, whatever it takes, that is just plain nasty and you can not tell me a person does not realize they have bad breath...that is just bs,now I am gonna go eat my garlic pizza and go smooch with my hubby! Wheres the Crest???

Put a note on his desk that says, "Your breath stinks.." or, "Your breath is rank." If his oral hygiene dosen't improve after this, put a tin of Altoids on his desk with a note attached. Or even better, put a tube of toothpaste and a toothbrush in an manilla envelope and put it on his desk.

Keep a huge container of breath mints on your desk. Whenever he talks to you say that you're addicted to your new favorite guilty pleasure...breath mints. Invite him to imbibe too!

Say "do you know your breath stinks?" Tell them to take a drink or eat something. Usually dry mouths cause the stink.

Perhaps carry a roll of breath mints and if he talks to you, pop a breath mint yourself and offer him one.

Or, get some little travel samples of mouth wash, or rolls of mints, sure, and tie a little bow on one, and leave it on his desk....for a week straight.
for 7 bucks , about, and some ribbon...he will never know you did it....and it HAS GOT TO SINK IN...right?
Good Luck!

Tell him that his breath is equivalent to the inside of a porto-potty, on a humid, 100 degree day.....trust me.. he'll smell better after that :)
