We get goosebumps when hairs are able to stand on end due to contractions of tiny muscles at the base of the hairs, brought on by being cold or frightened. The tiny muscles contracting cause bumps in the skin. All Mammals can get goose bumps you just cant tell becuase they have a lot more fur then we do. In animals having the hairs stand on end it makes an area between the skin and the cold eliments which can hold warmth so I can see the point in animals but for us I really dont know same principle I'm sure.

Goose bumps happen when your cold. Hair follicles expand to raise hair to insulate your body against the cold. It doesn't help on bald heads or hairless animals like humans, but my dog likes 'em in the winter.

The nerves around the hair shafts on your arms & legs constrict and cause the outer surface to shrink.
Thus a goose-bump !

Goose bumps are temporary swellings of the hair follicles, and usually appear when you are cold or frightened.

Its like when you get cold or scared. I'm not sure why they happen though, that's probably not the actual definition but that's what everybody says
