I was just wondering. After you have used the cream, wouldn't it be easy to catch them again while you are cleaning? Also, is vaccuming and then spraying the carpet with lysol or tea tree oil afterwards good enough?

It takes a male and a female to reproduce so you must either pick up both or a pregnant female which usually are in borrows and don't fall off.Since the lifetime of mites separated from a human body is short your biggest problem is eggs. Catching them again is unlikely but I wore gloves while cleaning and and showered and changed clothes after. Insecticides are dangerous so you should not use them when not necessary. The most likely cause of getting them again are ones that survived on you after treatment or from some one close to you that you infected, but has not yet started to itch.

Fumigate the house, or use a bug bomb.
