Many scientists into psychiatry/psychology who use logic rather than emotion/faith, to function in life, and seem to do quite well, deem many religious people insane, because of their inability to reason/function in the real world, and their escapism and fearful/judgemental ways of going about everything and fearing others that arent like them.

Many religions like christianity/islam if taken to the extreme, can turn people into fearful hermits. How is this positive or productive?

How is believing that we're in the last days, being scared, and what not, going to help you construct a house, build a gizmo/gadget, devise a business scheme, or do ANYTHING productive? How is it going to help you save a life, or come out with a new drug/cure for aids cancer?

I have no problem with religion as long as it ADDS/compliments to/your life, rather than taking over.

How is it that we all start out normal as kids, and some wind up being those "thee end times are Nearrr!" freaks.

Oh yeah, lets screw up our whole lives, screw school, screw it all, b/c the world is endinnnng. ooooooooh. hocus pocus. lets all get down now and repent. Oh but look at the signs around us, the signs, the scripturessssss booo hoo omgg.

Doesn't this induce insanity???

How can people function daily if they're THIS extreme in it?

You know what I think? Religion to that extreme is for the very weak.

Let the POLICE handle the evil. And psychologists/psychiatrists.

Personally, we witnessed worse times before modern medicine, civilization, and the computers you're typing on right now, and all the information we know.

THE END TIMES conditions were felt worse way back when.

I personally have a love/hate relationship with religion/christianity.

I think it's a GREAT moral guideline, but it's far too scary/demanding/strict, and claims to know all/ be all/ and tries to control you and kill your brain/thought process, and put itself in your head instead.

thats scary.

If you ask me, if the Devil had any brains, he would have made religion up himself, to trick people into worshipping a holy god in which he really is, and take their personal freedoms/wills away.

religious people are just scaredycats, scared of the "bad" guys, and can't deal with how unfair life is.

Well get over it. It's unfair, and there are bad people, and no "god" is going to kill them, or destroy them for you and make you inherit crap because you really dont deserve it in the first place.

It's just how life is, and its weak people who can't accept this and need to hope/believe in something more.

I wouldn't say insane. I would bet a million bucks, however, that its some kind of chemical imbalance in the brain, like ADHD or something. I wonder why no one's ever done a study on that. Probobly cause they're to scared of what would happen if they did. whatever.

Well, let's see here. This particular Christian:

Went to college, got a Master's Degree, has been married for over 30 years, does volunteer work in the community, has never been arrested, doesn't get drunk or do drugs, has several hobbies that I enjoy, loves to meet people, and has plenty of friends. I'm not terrified of the future, I enjoy the present, and I've learned to cope with the hurts of the past.

And that would make me "insane". . .how?
