You are right, he would not want you to change the date. We went to an annual holiday party just 4 days after the wife was buried. He still had the party bec she always loved having them. It was a nice tribute to her. Other people will understand how you feel.

No it's not too soon, if anything i would think that he would be happy to see you and everyone else around you happy and having a great time. He would want everyone to feel joy and not relish in the sorrow. sorry for your loss. I hope you do have the party, live it up for all of us :)
