Can the Polk RTi6 speakers be bi-amped using a Denon AVR1906 A/V Receiver?

Question

I'm mainly concerned about the wattage.
The receiver is 85 watts X7 (so called 7.1).
When the receiver is in bi-amp mode, it changes from 7.1 to 5.1 channels.
The 2 rear surround channels (85wX2) are combined with the 2 Front channels(85wX2).
Does this mean i'll be getting 170wX2
The Polk RTi6 speakers can only take 120 watts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. You will have no problem using the Polk speakers.Actually it is better to have an Amp that has a higher power output than the max speaker input.as long as you don't have it up at a ridiculously high level.I don't think it doubles the output wattage but i could be wrong.If it does double you would only hear a very slight change (3DB) in sound intensity. For your ears to hear double the volume the power output would have to increase 10 times (850W per channel) .Either way you should be fine.Check out your Owners' Manual ,it might have more detail on bi-amping.

You'll be fine. This does not double your wattage, only reduces the load that each channel "sees" from you speakers.
