Everyone who is normal has a conscience. If a person feels no sense of quilt when he has tortured a little child, stolen money, or told a hideous lie about an innocent man or woman, that person may as well be called a moral inbecile. You out there are no moral imbecile, or you wouldn't be reading this question. So what kind of a conscience do you have? Is your conscience clear enough for a honest Prayer?

I seem to have a very strong conscience and it's clear for the most part. Although I do regret some things I've done in the past, none of it is bad enough to beat myself up over forever.

My personal motto is to treat others as I want to be treated. Yes, it's hard sometimes when you are annoyed or tired or driving in thick traffic or waiting in a 30-minute line or getting bumped into by people in a crowd, but I try. And if I fail and I say something curt or unkind during the day, I try to apologize to God for it later. If at the end of the day I feel I've been kind to everyone with whom I came in contact that day, then I'm satisfied.

See thinking like this is a load of bull, because my conscience is completely clear. Because I believe to feel guilt about ones own actions is a moronic thing to do. I was never "tortured as a child" I hate those that steal money, and I abore those that lie. I don't believe in sin and I refuse to pray to a god that isn't real, and no matter how many of you say the lesser you can't prove there is one. All you have is your personal belief in a outside power greater then yourself.. Which I also believe is a weakness..

So to get back to the matter at hand. If a person never feels a sence of guilt does not mean that person. Has had a bad childhood or is dishonest in any form. Maybe to themself they feel like myself. If they do something wrong they recognize they have done so, and they won't do it again. They don't need to beat themselves up for it through guilt, and have to ask forgiveness..

Conscience? I am sorry, I must admit my conscience is very murky. To much has been revealed to me and to fast, it caused me to mature far sooner then I would have liked..

Ah..yes..now I have read the question again..everyone who is 'normal' has a conscience..well, I certainly am not normal (which I must regrettably be thankful for) and yet I do have a conscience of sorts.

And yet I think it does not matter how clear or unclean a conscience is for a honest prayer, murderers definitely do not have a clear conscience yet if they are religious they may pray to their god to forgive them, or if they do not worship any god may simply feel remorse, which is I think just as well.

But, as to your question, I must, most regretfully, say that I would not pray.

Most people have a normal conscience. Humans have evolved emotions and feelings that have helped them survive. This includes those that help us live among each other fairly peacebly. We are a congretory animal. We tend to form groups.

Our social groups have evolved even faster than our biology. So we have complex sociala morees and laws.

No prayer is honest, because there are no real gods. Prayers are ways for people to feel like they're doing something, without actually having to do anything.

A clean one. I don't torture children as a rule, and I can be an ethical and moral person without prayers.
