It's only disqualifying for entry if it's unstable or you still have symptoms of pain.

when i tried to enlist the military had absolute rules that no surgery five years before enlisting was allowed of types including acl and cartlidge. If you do get in some how and misrepresent your physical condition and get hurt very bad at any time you will be discharged with no benefits to cover your injuries.

Yea, you can. The physical at MEPS may provide a bit of a hurdle. Basically your going to need a doctors clearance to join, both the doc who preformed the surgery and another consult that MEPS will set up for you. So best of luck to you. Hopefully they dont change the rules by the time you want to join.

i had reconstructive surgery on my knee in feb 02 joined the navy sep 03 passed all the physical requirements at boot camp and since then. All it comes down to is can you pass your physical test the twice a year that is required. i have a friend who tore his acl twice on active duty and hes still in the navy. so good luck to you.

i would say yes as long as you are able to run a PFT (physical fitness test) and pass. and as long as the doctor has cleared you. My husband had ACL replacement and a meniscus repair several years back and he was able to make full recovery and Range of Motion and it hasnt impacted his ability. He has been an active duty Marine for 13 years now. Go for it!

i wouldn't bother trying if i were you.not to discourage you but you end up making it worse.when you get injured the military will just throw you away.
