You know, i could do the same with the bible, and make it sound violent, but it wont be valid, because its out of context

Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)
Death to Followers of Other Religions

Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed. (Exodus 22:19 NAB)

Kill Nonbelievers

They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB)

Kill Followers of Other Religions.

1) If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him. Your hand shall be the first raised to slay him; the rest of the people shall join in with you. You shall stone him to death, because he sought to lead you astray from the Lord, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery. And all Israel, hearing of this, shall fear and never do such evil as this in your midst. (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 NAB)

2) Suppose a man or woman among you, in one of your towns that the LORD your God is giving you, has done evil in the sight of the LORD your God and has violated the covenant by serving other gods or by worshiping the sun, the moon, or any of the forces of heaven, which I have strictly forbidden. When you hear about it, investigate the matter thoroughly. If it is true that this detestable thing has been done in Israel, then that man or woman must be taken to the gates of the town and stoned to death. (Deuteronomy 17:2-5 NLT)
The following passage shows that slaves are clearly property to be bought and sold like livestock.

However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. (Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT)
God Will Kill Ethiopia

"You Ethiopians will also be slaughtered by my sword," says the LORD. And the LORD will strike the lands of the north with his fist. He will destroy Assyria and make its great capital, Nineveh, a desolate wasteland, parched like a desert. The city that once was so proud will become a pasture for sheep and cattle. All sorts of wild animals will settle there. Owls of many kinds will live among the ruins of its palaces, hooting from the gaping windows. Rubble will block all the doorways, and the cedar paneling will lie open to the wind and weather. This is the fate of that boisterous city, once so secure. "In all the world there is no city as great as I," it boasted. But now, look how it has become an utter ruin, a place where animals live! Everyone passing that way will laugh in derision or shake a defiant fist. (Zephaniah 2:12-15 NLT)

When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment. (Exodus 21:7-11 NLT)
ofcourse these are all invalid because they are out of context

I know what you mean, and that is my main purpose, to correct that. Here is one example

Everything I state has the surah and verse right next to it, so you can see that it is truthful no matter what hateful trolls say.

If you read these, you see they are about self defense, and also telling the reader that if the person you are defending yourself from stops, then you must stop too. It also says don't go overboard in protecting yourself, just do what you need to stay alive and protect yourself. This does not mean to go around killing innocent people. Self defense is not killing those who are not muslim. Self defense is just that. If physically attacked, fight back. If the attacker stops, you stop too. And why was verse 192 left out of the Answering Islam site? Is it because it made people really think about this? It says if the attacker stops, then good, all is forgiven.

[002:190] Fight in the way of Allah against those who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Lo! Allah loveth not aggressors.

[002:191] And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter. And fight not with them at the Inviolable Place of Worship until they first attack you there, but if they attack you (there) then slay them. Such is the reward of disbelievers.

[002:192] But if they desist, then lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

[002:193] And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah. But if they desist, then let there be no hostility except against wrong-doers.

Why is reading comprehension not used? Why take somebody's word for it when they say it means to kill all nonmuslims for not being muslim? The words are clear, that it's not allowed. So why be so foolish as to believe it?

They also conveniently ignore this verse when searching which shows that they are lying

What do you think of these two translations?

004:094] O ye who believe ! when you go forth to fight in the cause of ALLAH, make proper investigation and say not to anyone who greets you with the greeting of peace, Thou art not a believer.' You seek the goods of this life, but with ALLAH are good things in plenty. Such were you before this, but ALLAH conferred His special favour on you; so do make proper investigation. Surely, ALLAH is Aware of what you do.

[004:094] Oh you who believe! When you go out (to fight) in the path of Allah, make a distinction (between friends and foes). If someone wishes you the greeting of Islam, do not, seeking the benefits of this world, be quick and say, “You are not the believer.” Allah has the most abundant booty and benefits for you. In fact, you were like that once, but Allah bestowed His favors upon you. Therefore, (verify and) ascertain the facts first. Indeed, Allah is very well Aware of everything you do!

I think of this all the time, you have made a great point. Soo many people make a big deal when it comes to the Qu'ran and its verses, which are almost always taken out of context, only to serve their purpose. What they fail to realize it that their very own Bible has some things in it that they are not proud of, and many verses are vulnerable to be taken out of context. I call that hypocrisy...The Bible calls for stoning, women dressing modestly (I know!), killing of whomever, yet we Muslims don't go taking verses out of context, accusing all Christians of being violent, hateful, and intolerant. After all, most of these verses in the Bible have been changed or altered in some way by now so that Christianity would never sound bad and welcoming and comforting instead. So some "ugly" verses of the Bible that no one knows about may be forever lost. Well, Christians, here you go, just a glimpse; a tiny taste of your own medicine, and remember, many of you do this to Muslims, and its so much worse:

Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth -- Matthew 22:12-13

Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

See? I can do that with any religion. These quotes were taken out of context, to serve my own agenda. However, I am intelligent enough to know and understand what taking a verse out of context means. For the first, well, the Bible is the literal word of God, isn't it? And the second, I know it isn't what it sounds like; like I said, I am intelligent enough to know that Christianity is not all about the sword (killing, violence, murder, war, etc.), as this would imply if someone read it out of context. But Muslims are falling victim to this heinous absurdity all the time. So many people take verses from the Qu'ran, without understanding their true meaning, and leaving the rest up to the ignorant. It really isn't fair.

I know exactly what you mean, and exactly how you feel. If only we could do more to educate these people about the truth, and eradicate their ignorance...Good luck, brother!

Fred:

No, you are wrong. That is not what he is trying to say. He is trying to make a point by taking verses from the Bible out of context, and proving a point. That game can be played with any religion, but why are the Muslims always falling victim to this hate? These Muslims aren't doing the same with the Bible as the Christians are doing with the Qu'ran, so that's the difference. The asker is merely demonstrating an example; he is not being a hypocrite.

BlessingSeeker:

How come, all of a sudden, its a different story when it comes to the New Testament? If you read closely, even in your answer, you are questioning the New Testament by claiming that Jesus could not have possibly said anything that aroused violence, so these verses have to be interpretted another way. I wouldn't be surprised if you became an author--a Bible author.

Its just simple Ignorance is all.. If they took the time to sit and study the same way they did for exam at school they would never say anything bad about the Quran... verses tie into verses and ayats tie into ayats... its very difficult to just take one ayat without grouping in all the hadith, tefseer and mahroof information from the Adam till the last person born.. even the smallest person will find new evidence in the Quran proving and or disproving their own believe.

Nice question, some people have a vested interest in taking things out of context, typically missionaries. This is because Islam is spreading into their countries, their people and as the saying goes the best form of defense is attack.

Anybody with a rational mind also says the Christian Bible is filled with hate, violence and bigotry. The Quran does preach intolerance regarding infidels, does it not? Fanatics from both faiths corrupt their Book to their own ends. There are good and bad people on both sides.

If you compare Old Testament with Koran, you could say they are equally violent, although in the Old Testament God is as tough and possibly tougher on the Hebrews at times as those opposing them.

In the New Testament its very different. You have to really bend things to interpret things Jesus said as violence. There are prophecies in Revelation when Christ comes again, when antichrist and his followers will receive a nasty comeuppance. His life is so pure and good. Naturally any man like Mohammed looks earthly and violent after that.
* Jesus is ==REALLY== wonderful *

There are violent passages in the Koran. I think muslim feelings are aroused by the gratifying tone of the Koran; its soothes pride and so on by giving a person a feeling of being the one doing various good behaviours suggested. The true word of God doesnt use a person's pride to make them think its God's word. In lifted pride they then miss the real violence of many of Mohammed's statements. They are there, whether Moslems deny them or admit them. Mohammed did use violence, theres no getting away from it.

Many people like to draw attention to themselves by stating outrageous things and then pontificating in a way that makes them feel like they are truly gifted and worthy of attention.

we are people with little knowledge so it is best to be aware of what we say as it is misconstrued by people that do not have the best intentions > All in the Quran is pure and good may Allah keep us safe
