It bothers me and I am peach colored with a slight tan sheen. =)
Americans with African ancestry are AMERICANS. There is no comparison. Of course illegal immigrants should be treated decently, as they are being hauled back to where they came from. And they should be given a chance to apply for citizenship and play by the rules, after they pay for their crimes against American citizens.
Illegal immigrants are hurting American citizens by illegally entering our country, refusing to play by our rules, and taking our jobs away. I know several people who can no longer find skilled construction jobs that pay more than 7$ an hour. It is unethical to illegally enter a foreign country and undercut citizens wages.
Black Americans are about as American as apple pie.

There's absolutely no comparison between the two struggles. The Civil Rights movement was about being treated with equality and as an American citizen, and not persecuted for the color of our skin. Illegal immigrants are not being persecuted for their skin complexion by Americans.
Illegal immigrants aren't even citizens and no one is putting a gun to their head and making them come to America. It's a personal choice they made to break the law, and now they want everyone to feel sorry for them.

I'm not black, but it really bothers me. Those poor people that were dragged over here were done so against their will.
The illegals have a choice. They can stand up and fix what is wrong in their country or they can come here legally. Nobody is dragging them here against their will and treating them worse than a dog. Nobody is selling off their children. This just ticks me off it is one more argument the PRO illegal activist are trying to make and it is back firing. There is NO comparison!!

Here's your answer Nicole. Thought I would kill two questions with one stone. Might also want to send it to Governor Richardson yourself.
Contact Governor Bill Richardson

BTW - it's La Raza's and Hispanics who want an all Hispanic/Latino Government. That way every thing sways Hispanics/Latinos way every time. Including allowing all Mexicans from Mexico to just come on over without penalties.

I am not black and it bothers me. Being illegal is not even close to what happened to the blacks during the civil rights movement

Thought about it and you are right. Illegal aliens ARE people too. And they should be TREATED as the people that they are, ILLEGAL ALIENS as they are humanely deported.
They are people, but they are NOT citizens, and they are NOT legal immigrants. And they shouldn't be treated as such.
They should be deported...the same as every other country in the world enforces THEIR immigration laws.
You do realize all countries have immigration laws and all countries enforce them?? Are you trying to insinuate the U.S. is wrong for trying to enforce theirs?

Lets think about this.
The civil rights movement was about each person being treated equally, regardless of color.
African American rights were essentially non-existent.
It was a struggle to get decent or ANY health care, education or respect. It was also the right to live free from persecution...
As such, illegal immigrants and even LEGAL immigrants struggle for the same rights.
And before you say anything about illegal immigrants not dying or being killed, I suggest you do your research.
There are also many Mexican American U.S. CITIZENS who are terrorized and persecuted and called immigrants because of ignorance and racism.
Civil rights are for PEOPLE.
I know this is a touchy topic, but a struggle is a struggle.
Hatred is hatred.
It's funny and sad to me that we minorities are pitted against each other, when what we should be doing is joining together to improve the conditions of our schools, our neighborhoods and our health care.
Everyone is so focused on saying POOR ME, and I hate this race or I hate that race, that we are never going to go anywhere as a people.
It makes me sad, especially because I don't forsee any progress in my lifetime. I don't understand how people can still think this way.
Nothing good comes from it.

Civil rights are for citizens, not illegal aliens.
The civil rights movement was a race issue. Illegal aliens are not a race.
No comparison WHATSOEVER.
The only "civil rights" they are entitled to are to be deported humanely.
