my weight fluctuates like crazy- not really very much- only like 1 pound or 2, and i get really frustrated when it goes up. even if i exercise the same amount and eat the same that i did on a day i lose weight, sometimes i gain. should i weigh myself every day or ever week to get a more stable number?

it sounds like you are the last person that should be weighing themselves daily. it is perfectly natural for the body weight to fluctuate several lbs from day to day.

this is why tracking the body fat % is all that is needed. numbers on the scale are meaningless as they don't tell where gains or losses are occurring.

you need only weight yourself 1x a week the same day at the same time with the same clothes (or birthday suite).

daily fluctuations are frustrating - especially when it appears you gain 3 pounds throughout the day :) it is recommended that you only weigh yourself once a week, at around the same time. but honestly, i find it impossible to stay off the scale - eventhough it directly affects my mood. i'm considering investing in one of those scales that measures body fat vs. overall weight. they may not be wholely accurate, but at least water weight gain won't throw off my whole day! if you simply can't stay off the scale, either, then perhaps that might be an option for you, too.

You can weigh yourself every day, but if you do, make sure it is at the same time each day. One example might be after you have used the bathroom in the morning and before breakfast.

If you do weigh daily, put it in a spreadsheet, such as Excel. Then, don't concentrate on the daily numbers, but look at the results after the week.

The worst thing you can do is weigh yourself at different times each day, as your numbers will fluctuate greatly.

well the thing is... your weight is most likely more stable than the number youre getting. sclaes are not that reliable. weigh yourself as often as you like, but know that a gain or a loss might only be temporary due to the variation in your scale. also weigh yourslef at the same time each day.

no .... check if your waist size is healthy ... you don't need to weigh yourself everyday...that just throws off your motivation...
