you may laugh, but I add cooked pasta to my shake, as well as othe ingredients.
Here is the list of ingredients:
crushed flax 100 grams
almonds 1 ounce
banana 2 medium frozen or fresh
mixed berries 2 cups frozen
100% frozen orange 100 grams (1/3 can)
yogourt 250 grams
iso whey protein 120 grams
whole wheat pasta 90grams
6 cups of water
2 tablespoons of brewers yeast
Directions:
The above makes little over 4 liters. If you're doing this quantity, you will need to blend in two batches.
Soak the almonds in water overnight.
Add two cups of water and blend the almonds the next day. Add the berries, yogurt, orange and banana. Blend.
Pour in separate container.
Now add 1 cup of water, add the cooked pasta (don't add salt or anything to your pasta, just plain). Blend until creamy. Add rest of the water. Add the crushed flax. Blend some more. Slow the blender speed and add your protein and brewers yeast. Blend a bit more.
Pour onto the first batch. Mix using a serving spoon. Pour back in blender and blend quickly before bottling.
Refrigerate (overnight preferably).
This is an awesome shake.
It provides many of the nutrients you need.
Aside from this I pack 3 cut apples in a bag and i have that along with my shakes at work. I take 1 bottle right after my morning workout. The rest i take during the day.
I drink 3 to 4 liters of water and I have fruits and gazpacho or other vegetable type meals during the day (normally at end of day).
By end of day , you've pretty much got all the nutruition you need. I've lost 35 lbs and gained muscle mass a way I have never experienced before. I'm not a nutritionist, but I have done this myself and been on it for almost a year and I feel great. I hope this helps somebody.

I just drink whey protein shakes. I purchase a giant jug at Costco, and it lasts me forever, I don't have to prepare anything this way, all I do is add it to some milk and "presto" it is done. I have this really good one that is bavarian chocolate flavored, it tastes like a really good chocolate milk. It also works great, I weigh 158 lbs., I know I am a light weight because I run all the time, but I am solid muscle!!! I recommend this cause it's cheap, easy, and works great!!!

First, muscle tone requires muscle mass. This means you need the proper amount of calories for building muscle. So just using a protein shake will not get you to your goals. You will need a lot of protein in conjunction with the appropriate number of calories.
I use different foods in protein shakes depending on the time of day. After workouts for my first major meal I like this:
1 cup nonfat yogurt
1 cup of frozen peaches
1/2 cup frozen berries
2 tsp of Berry Flavored Greens+ (dehydrated vegetable powder - the equivalent of protein powder for veggies)
A little bit of water
1 scoop of a casein/whey protein blend
Toss in blender till smooth
Any nonworkout time I prefer one of two things:
1 cup cottage cheese
2 tbsp peanut butter
1 scoop chocolate casein/whey blend
2 tbsp flax meal
Enough water to make it like a pudding (eating) or a liquid (drinking)
Toss in blender till smooth
Other times I'll just do:
Water
Chocolate casein/whey blend
1 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil (healthy oils are super important and I find it gives the shake a "fluffier, lighter texture" which is really not bad)
Toss in a blender till smooth
FYI: find a casein/whey blend. Whey is a rapidly digested protein. If you consume too much, it will lead to excessive gas. Casein is digested much more slowly and evenly by the body and best for times not immediately after your workout.

my night time shake is a blended protein with 40% caesin, 30% egg white protein and 30% whey isolate, right around 40 grams of protein powder. then I add in 1 tablespoon of natty pb, 1 tablespoon of heavy cream and 1 tablespoon of flax seed
the fats help to delay gastric emptying and the fiber helps to slow the release of amino acids into the portal bloodstream

use all-natural peanut butter, honey (for some sweetness, but not the kind that's bad for you), and bananas... bananas have so much crap in them that you probably don't know about... but just experiment with stuff like that until you find something you like... i'm pretty sure oatmeal is good to use, but this would probably be better in a bar instead of a shake
