You can use just about any liquid from milk to juice to bottled drinks (think Gatorade, Powerade) and add FROZEN fruits to them, don't use ice as it makes the smoothie watery.....also, the main ingredient to make a smoothie a smoothie is a banana (again, frozen, chills the drink without watering it down)..........Enjoy!!!

A smoothie is a blended, chilled, sweet beverage made from fresh fruit and fruit juices which is blended with crushed ice, frozen fruit, or frozen yogurt.
They have a milkshake-like consistency which is thicker than slush drinks, but unlike milkshakes, they do not usually contain cow's milk or ice cream.
Smoothies are marketed to health-conscious people.
Smoothies depend on bananas(fruits) or frozen yogurt to give them their thick, creamy texture. The addition of yogurt gives the smoothie a more milkshake-like texture.
Smoothies appeal to a wide range of age groups because of their sweetness, fresh fruit flavor, and nutritional value. Most are high in dietary fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants.

Until recently I've used soy milk (unsweetened and unflavoured) or almond milk, which is supposed to give you more energy longer. Now I just use water! But I do add a scoop of vanilla flavoured protein powder. I always add a banana, and then alternate between blueberries (super healthy) and strawberries (taste soooo good). Apple juice works well too.

I use chocolate soy milk, plain soy milk, fruit juice and skim milk depending on my mood and what I want to add to it. I always add a scoop of protein powder and flax meal to whatever it is and then mix it up from there depending on my mood.

You could use non-fat vanilla yogurt, they make sugar free non-fat as well. You can also use low-fat sugar free vanilla ice cream. That's what I use and they're YUMMY!!!!
