Take a canned drink (anything carbonated, room temp if possible), and pour it into a glass with ice. As you pour, position your mouth closely over the top of the glass and take a couple of deep breaths. The combination of the Carbon Dioxide and liberated oxygen should cause the spasms in your diaphram to stop. Works everytime for me....

The only way I can get rid of hiccups is to fill a glass with water, put my mouth on the opposite side of the glass, and bend over the tub, so as not to spill it on the floor, and take 10 good swallows ( I do 11 for good measure) Works for me every time. Good Luck.

You look ridiculous doing this, but it works for me every single time.

Put a spoon in a full glass of water. Spoon-side-down. Bring the glass to your lips and set the end of the spoon handle against your forhead, between your eyes. Now drink the whole glass. It's something about the angle that you're swallowing from that makes the hiccups stop, I think. Works better than drinking water upside down, and you won't spill.

I have tried this every single time I have had hiccups, and every time it has worked. All my friends and family have tried it and it worked. I learnt it from my grandfather when I was young and ive never forgot about it, I was actually going to sell the method to the doctors! (but thought, its only hiccups not the common cold) Anyway...

- Get a glass of water
- Get a mouthfull of water
- Tilt your head back
- Hold your nose
- Swallow
-Mouthfull of water, tilt head back, hold nose, swallow.

You then repeat this process 5 times or more, BUT you have to do it real quick without stopping otherwise you may hiccup during this and have to start the process over and over again.

I can guarantee this works, if ive explained it right!

There was an article on Yahoo news (probably still there) about a lady who had been hiccuping for a long time. It turned out that the prescription nose spray Astelin stopped it immediately.

My husband gets them for 2-3 days at a time and we've not had success ever getting them to go away. We'll try Astelin next time.

Have an orgasm and your hiccups will magically disappear. Of course, there may be other, unintended side effects!

Kids, do not try this at home!
Wear protection!
