I am learning Spanish and I cannot roll my Rs. I have had a few people start laughing at me like they thought it was so hilarious. :(

Gosh, no. It is not hilarious at all. I appreciate the fact that they are learning my language. English is my second language and I'd feel very upset if someone laughed at my accent. I think that would be a good reason to stop learning that language.

I'm sorry it happened to you with Spanish speaking people. We're not usually like that.

The people who laughed at you are insecure and stupid and it would be nice if someone laughed at them when they tried to speak another language.

Don't let that bother you and don't pay any attention to them.
Foreign accents can actually be cute, cool and sexy, not funny.

I work with a lot of Spanish speaking people and yes they laugh at me when I try to speak in Spanish but they also appreciate the effort of me at least trying to communicate in their language. The more you practice the easier it gets. I think it's funny when they talk to me in English and mispronounce words. As long as people know you are not laughing at them but instead at the situation you can both learn from each other!

No, I actually find it charming. And would never laugh at them. If they ask for my help I give it. And I hope I get the same understanding when I have trouble speaking a foreigh language to a native speaker.

Sometimes, but only if I know the person already, otherwise I know I can offend them. Don't get discouraged! It doesn't always mean they are against you!

Good luck :)

And I'm always trying to imagine how funny I sound when I speak a foreign language.

People are people, some just not very polite.

i dont find it hilarious, i appreciate the effort that that person is making.
sometimes i might become a bit impatient, but i remember how long it took me to learn other languages and the effort i had to make.
so... those people are sort of rude, i'd say.

I don't think it's funny no. I lived in Argentina for a few years and was developing my Spanish and every once in a while said something stupid but most people didn't even point it out.

no... imho, the only people who would find something like that hilarious is someone who is very insecure, and is looking to make themself higher by standing on someone else's back.
