Trader Joe's carries the Charles Shaw as do many small grocers.

Only at Trader Joe's- here is a recent article:

Have you heard the buzz? California’s wine world turned upside down – pricewise – this
summer when the Charles Shaw 2005 California Chardonnay (yep – “Two Buck Chuck”)
was judged the Best Chardonnay from California at the California State Fair Commercial
Wine Competition.
In a blind tasting, top wine judges awarded Charles Shaw Chardonnay 98 points, a double
gold, and the accolades of “Best of California” and “Best of Class.”
Ok, we admit it; we’re bursting with pride! We raise our glasses to Charles Shaw
Chardonnay. Congratulations on being fresh, fruity and well-balanced!
In addition to the award-winning Chardonnay, under the Charles Shaw label Trader Joe’s
carries four additional varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and
Shiraz. All Charles Shaw wines are available only at Trader Joe’s stores and are priced
from $1.99 to $3.49.

Two buck Chuck is actually a wine. You can buy it at Trader Joe's. Living in California it was my fav wine and actually only costed $1.98 a bottle. Now that I have transplanted myself to the East Coast it is $3.49 or so a bottle (shipping costs obviously).

The interesting thing about Charles Shaw wine? Charles Shaw is still alive. He lost his winery to his wife in a bitter divorce battle. When she took over the winery the thing went down the tubes financially and along comes the box wine guy - Franzia. He buys the winery, California then goes through a glut of grapes from the central valley and begins to bottle the stuff in Napa. Notice I said "bottle". The label of "Bottled in Napa" is Grandfathered in and Franzia is allowed to keep that on the labels. The older winery families were so upset at the Franzia family that they got together and tried to force him to change his label. The grapes were from California's Central Valley remember, and the Napa families grow their grapes there regionally. Anyway, Franzia was making such a killing in the $$$ that he fought the families and was allowed to keep his label reading "Bottled in Napa Valley". I realize you didn't ask for all this but the story doesn't end there. Sixty Minutes did a segment on Franzia (first name escapes me) and Marketing companies have tried to emulate his philosophical thinking. His basic philosophy? Make wine as cheap to buy as beer and you will sell more wine. It has worked for him.

Best to you!
