The problem is that I'm on a temporary visa (f-1 student visa) All the translation jobs I have seen requires at least having a green card. Can anyone help me find a job online or anything that doesn't require having US citizenship or green card?

I contacted two reqruiters and they both said I can't join because I don't have permanent residency.

My brother who also lives in the states got a call. He says from the military. He says that they told him to join as a translator. But he said no because he doesn't need a job. He kept their contact information for a while but now he says he lost it. He lives in another state though. How come they called him and told him he can join.....but when I contact any reqruiter they tell me I can't

If you don't have a green card, you're not going to be able to get many jobs. So, your first mission should be to get a green card.

Also, if you're from an Arabic-speaking country, chances are that the military isn't going to want to hire you. They prefer to hire Americans who have never been to those parts of the world for security reasons.

US Military.

You can be an alien and still join the US Military then once in you can apply for your Green Card so when you get out (eventually) you can get a job in the US. The military really needs translators and will want you badly. Of course you will most likely end up in Iraq because of it though.

Then you will have to wait the three years for your resident visa to be issued. You might check with some of the media outlets to see if they need translators with their reporters overseas. After all, the only western reporter in Iraq who was fluent in Arabic was Frank Gardner of the BBC and he has been re-posted out of the area.

No Social Security card = NO legal work.

If you are not a U.S. citizen, Social Security must see your current U.S. immigration documents. Acceptable documents from the Department of Homeland Security include your:

Form I-551 (includes machine-readable immigrant visa with your unexpired foreign passport);
I-94 with your unexpired foreign passport; or
Work permit card (I-766 or I-688B).
