First, I'm amused that your question ended up in the "Decorating & Remodeling" section.

Second, yes, I think a wall needs to be built along the entire border. We simply don't have enough agents to guard the border, and a wall would greatly reduce the number of people to catch. It's a sad joke that we cannot control immigration into our own country. We have laws to allow only a certain number of immigrants, but the ones who apply properly and work through the process get a huge slap in the face when illegals are told that if they get here before a certain date, they'll be made legal. It's a travesty that favors law-breakers over law-followers.

And to those who say the idea is racist, I say that's simply absurd. The vast majority of illegal immigrants come over the border from Mexico, so that's where we have to allocate the most resources. If most of the illegals came from Canada, we'd be right to build a wall on our northern border, and that wouldn't be racist either.

P.S. And to the person who compared it to the Berlin wall: that's ridiculous! The Berlin wall was built by an oppressive regime that was hated by its own people. East Germany built the wall to keep its own citizens IN the country, and they got shot if they tried to leave. The U.S. is not building a wall to keep Americans in. Americans will still be free to leave if they want to.

Yes we should build a wall but not out of brick and concrete. We should build it out of social reform. Remake the laws first of all that state if a child of an illegal is born in the United States it isn't a U.S. citizen. An illegal does not have access to welfare, an illegal does not have access to free medical, an illegal will go to prison for ten years on the first offense, an illegal will not get a free pass to what legals worked for generations to achieve for those born here and for those who wish to come here legally. I know thats a pipe dream because there is no such thing as a politician who has the nuts to do the right thing for those already here.

No. We're already wasting enough money on them by having everything printed in Spanish AND English, by paying extra teachers for ESL (English as a Second Language) students in public schools, etc. What REALLY gets me p.o.ed is how some rally so much against America by degrading our flag and saying that we're racist and how we don't respect them. Yes, we DO respect those who try and come here LEGALLY. Go tha f*** back home if it isn't so great over here. Most would gladly wish you a farewell. I'm just sick of this government not standing up enough for what is right. Too many people are sucking off of welfare in this country just because they can. For instance, my cousin got pregnant at a young age and wasn't married. She admittedly screwed up, but she wanted to get a job. She was denied benefits if she worked over 25 hours per week, yet she couldn't make it on $7/hour part-time AND having to pay for daycare. So, she sat at home and got on welfare b/c she could survive by doing so. Therefore, what is the image that our country is portraying in general. They give handouts where they are not needed and bring about chaos by catering to these people (legal and illegal). We cater to tillegals by hiring them for cheap labor. If they were unable to find work, they'd go back home. Just like if the government helped those who ONLY tried to help themselves, for example, making young people get jobs who are on welfare, then it would teach them to better themselves. And, those who don't want to get a job, and who are denied benefits, would learn to work when they got hungry enough. There are "help wanted" signs everywhere I go, and the excuse is always, "Only people like illegal immigrants are willing to do those kinds of jobs." That's because we are giving our own people the damn handout. Our own people who didn't even graduate high school are the same ones who only want to work for physicians wages and feel that everyone owes them something. These are the same people who should be out farming and working in factories. Do you think Americans would be able to largely influx to, say, Cambodia, and they not have a problem with it? We'd be beaten, imprisoned, starved and shot to death by the millions and dared for more to immigrate. We need to get a set of kahunas and quit putting up with their sh**. Allowing those who are already here to become legal is ridiculous and wasting money and time on a wall is just as absurd. By the time they have it built, there will be no more Mexicans to keep down there.

waste of time money and resources to build a wall

with all the tunnels already in place and all the "experienced" guides directing traffic to get to the USA .... a wall wouldnt even slow em down

just gives the "guides" an excuse to charge more to smuggle em across i would think

but thats just my opinion

A wall would be a sad waste of money. Why?
shovels , ladders, wire-cutters
the US just needs more border patrol to keep it's border safe
plus a fence would take forever to build , not to mention it would be expensive
