if you can't figure it out, I doubt your willing to understand. But to harvest a game animal for food, is one thing. It helps keep the ratio of animals to habitat correct. other wise the herds grow too large and they all suffer from disease and starvation. Deer herds are at the highest recorded population ever. The herds are healthy, all due to hunter support and management. Sending dogs into a ring to fight, wherein they get maimed or killed just to satisfy the lust from a bunch of tabacco chewing morons is wrong. It's cruel, it serves no good purpose at all. As for hunting out of season, guess what? yoo get your rifle and vehicle taken away from you. You get fined heavily, you can get a lot of jail time as well. and you lose your right to hunt. Vickhasn't even been to trial yet. Geez, stop convicting the guy till he has his day in court. If he is innocent, he walks, if he is guilty, he pays his dues. Life goes on. If you want something to concern yourself about, think about the children starving in the world, get mad about that. Get mad about the environment, get mad about aids, better yet, get off your whiney butt and do something to better this world.

I'm not pro hunting but I know that it at least involves mercy. Dog fighting is torture, the canine equivalent to the Nazi death camps. I've never heard of anyone bragging about how the strangled, electrocuted, hung, starved, drowning, or slammed one to the ground until it died. Yes, I'm sure there are sadistic hunters out there that do not follow the code, but dog fighting is cruel from the trainer to the audience. Dogs are 100% expendable. Your dog wins, it could be a $2000 purse, not to mention the side bets, so who cares if it got half of its face ripped of and dies 3 agonizing hours later? The owner only paid $250 and didn't waste a bullet.

Because a dog trusts you. Unlike a deer, a bug, or a fish, a dog is not a wild critter that gets caught in the cross-hairs. A dog utterly relies on you for food and wants to make you happy. If the way of doing that is to fight to the death and suffer through beating and previous injuries, he'll do it.

It angers me that you cannot even see the difference. Hunting is not just a sport where an innocent animal is killed for no reason. It is used as food. And, the killing is usually pretty immidiate to the animal so it does not suffer. Dog fighting serves no purpose but for one dog to cause great damage and pain to another dog, who then suffers greatly until it heals or dies. Very sad, very pathetic, and so is anyone who supports it. It is no different than a big bully at school beating up on a little kid, only usually the kid doesn't suffer terminal injuries and its last hours on earth are in suffering. Anyone who participates in dog fights should be slowly tourtured to death.

It's clear that you need to do some research on how they are taught to fight. Some people steal pets, stab them and hang them, while starving the fight dog so he gets a taste of blood. They beat them, burn them, cut them, starve them, neglect them etc. Just look it up. Hunting is not exploiting and torturing the dog, its honing natural instinct. Most hunting dogs are well loved, fed and taken care of. Did you even read what Vick did to those dogs? Obviously not. He deserves way more that 6 years, he is one of the people the really were, sadly a waste. He spreads herpes on purpose (check cnn), has raped people, and is cruel. Anyway back to the subject, a wolf is a predator that hunts to live, dogs are derived from wolves, need i go on?

The difference is the torture!
We don't shoot to injure a deer, sew it up and let it out to shoot/injure again, and again, and again!
One shot, one kill. Meat in the freezer, done deal.
