Uphill running is great. It is good for race situations and builds muscle real fast. I would suggest doing hillwork outs no more than twice a week. The other days should be just running, tempo runs, strength training (mostly abs), and speed training, (if you must you can take a day to rest too.)

Running uphill will make you stronger and faster. When running downhill it will cause your stride length to increase, but make sure you aren't jarring your knees and back too much. You want to feel comfortable running down the hill, not like you are holding back.

Running up a hill will help endurance. This will also screw up your knees as you run down the hill. I am not suggesting to not do hill running but try some plyometrics also

running up hill will make you stronger (better endurance) but of that is all you down you will slow down as your legs forget how to turnover quickly!
You need to do recovery runs, hills repeats, speed workouts and Long Slow Distance.
