I have an approx 1 1/2 yr old shepherd mix female puppy/dog up for adoption. I've tried craigslist....I've emailed several "no-kill" shelters and they haven't responded....I've tried local ads...everything. This dog is gorgeous. She's mixed with a smaller breed (like a chow) so she's skinny, but strong...long, but thin....and sweeter than any dog I've ever met. She's a big baby...has to sleep in a bed, has to "eat with us" (as in she'll only eat from her bowl if we are sitting at the table near her eating)...she's a big lovable sweetheart and needs a good home.
You are wondering why I need to adopt her out if she's so wonderful, right? I rescued her from someone else who rescued her. I had NO idea that my daughter and I would develop allergies! It's been very very hard and if it was just me...I'd suffer, but I can't put my daughter through this.
I am asking a VERY small re-homing fee to ensure she goes to the MOST loving home. I will NOT tolerate anything less.

Help!

Sorry - I am in Jacksonville Florida.
My daughter and I have both had NUMEROUS visits to the dr in the last few months. We've always been allergic to pollen, but since we got our dog, it has gotten waaaayyyy worse, to the point I'm missing work, etc due to the medicines I'm on. The drs insist it is pet dander related. And I have tried the allergen reducing dog shampoos, etc. I'm going broke trying to keep her and it's not helping me in any way. It breaks my heart to have to part with her!

I already have a dog- but I think there are alot of Jacksonville's- the one I know is in IL. You may want to say which one you're in.

Try keeping her outside. Shepperd mixes are a dime a dozen. This dog will be difficult to find a home for. This is why no one except for the top quality breeders should be breeding dogs. Soon it will be against the law to own a dog over 4 months old unaltered. I am very happy to see finally legislators are putting some teeth into this. There is such a horrible over population problem with dogs and cats it's very sad.

I would try taking her to the local shelter and standing outside with her. If people see her, maybe they will fall in love with her. You most likely won't be able to charge a fee for her. People just simply don't want to pay for a Shepperd mix that's not a puppy anymore.

Good luck.

There are always rescue groups that will help you.
YOu should NEVER Put an ad in the paper for a dog. People will get free dogs and sell them to dog fighting rings and testing facilities.
There is always someone that will help you if you just do the ground work and find them. This is not the place.

Search for rescue groups and start emailing pictures to the volunteers.

Are you sure it's an allergy to dogs?
Lots of pollen outside these days.
I'd get allergy tested before parting with such a wonderful companion.

TRY http://www.petfinder.com/

I also agree with Wyandotte Hen have you been to your doctor just to double check that you are both allergic to the dog and not something else in the house.
