20 years ago yes but not now. Things have changed. WWell I actually think it's OK for the 14 y/o if it's a responsible kid.

No I wouldn't drop off 2 14 year olds and a 9 year old. If anything, I may let them be at the mall while I was there, but carry a cell phone and be able to check in and meet me at different places for a check in.

No No No, There are to many sick people that hang out at places like malls, I would not let a nine year old or a 14 year old go alone. Maybe when they are 16 and then it would only be with a group of friends.

I would say yes, as long as the 14 yr olds wont ditch the 9 yr old and it is a safe mall and during the day.

i am still a very young parent so i don't know if i am the right one to answer. my kids are 5 and 3, however it really depends on your children and your trust level. my father let my friends and i hang out for hours at the mall by ourselves when i was 14 and i never got into any trouble. however i had a friend that was my age and she used the time to sneak off to have sex with her boyfriend who was 20something! If you feel your children are trustworthy and have behaved well in the past i would let them go. And maybe check up on them the first few times..show up early and walk around, see if they are where they told you they would be. Also, in this case, a cell phone so you can check up on them and they can call home would be a good idea (i am against children having cell phones on principle usually) it all boils down to your kids, you know them best

Absolutely not! Not in today's world! The Mall isn't for hanging out. That is asking for trouble. Last yr when my daughter went with a friend (she was 16), they looked down to the 1st level and saw tons of people running and screaming...a gang member had been shot by a rival gang member. She saw the body. Take a parent..what is the big deal? Please....think safety.

Well I am not a parent yet... but I can answer that question! Well nine years old is too young to go to the mall by yourself but if she is fourteen and you are not sure if you want her to go alone maybe yet her go with a couple of friends! But if she has done something in the past that was really bad and you do not trust her right now go in the mall with her but do not be right beside her!

The 14 year olds, yes. The 9 year old...No. It does also depend on their maturity and if you trust them or not. If you think they're going to run out the door at the other end of the mall into a waiting car, then obviously not. If your trust them, why not?

im a parent i have been for only almost the last yr.
yes i messed up(im 14)
blah blah wow.
anyways my mother always took my brother Simon who is now 21 to the mall when he was a teenager (13-16) with my other brother and sometimes sister.
they were fine but if all your children are girls..dont let them go without a guy lol
it's not the safest in my opinions..guys can be perverts.

I think they should be able to be there with a friend or two. NEVER by themselves. Make sure they have a cell phone!! The 9yr old should be with the 14 yr olds if she/he is going, otherwise she/he shouldnt go without you.
