if this is your first time at this course plan a strategy using the score card verses your handicap. if it is your first time golfing period, you dont belong on the golf course, but on the driving range learning to hit the ball first. having said that, you can pick a playing partner within your foresome and play best ball, that way you dont hold up your group or the players behind you.

and by the way, it sounds to me your just bragging that your golfing on a work day.

turn up early...

go to the range... hit 100 balls... using the clubs you would for your shot in a game...

driver, 3 iron, 5, wedge.. and repeat... this will form muscle memory, and will help during your game..

if you have time... hit 100 then rest and take a cuppa tea... then hit 100 more...

you will be well warmed up...

ALWAYS make sure that you aim at something, that helps your coordination !!!

ALSO - get your self a routine, and stick to it for every single shot... whatever it is... EG. look up, where youre going to hit 5 times, b4 you hit the ball every time b4 you hit a ball... etc

get ready to have people standing behind you as you tee off and give you looks when you dont hit the ball straight or if you dont know every single rule and sub rule of the course. just try to enjoy it and remember that the people looking at you were once as nervous as you. personally i hate standing ready to tee off and having people watching behind me and i seem to always mess it up.

Stockpile lots of condoms, maybe some nice wine, mood music, and make sure you've cleaned your bathroom.

Also, clean sheets are a must, and make sure you've got on a fresh pair of underwear (if you wear underwear).

In the long run, it wouldn't hurt to befriend a divorce attorney, but it'll be a few years before you need one of those. But, it's never too early to start planning for the future.
