In essence all calorie sources are the same calorie for calorie. That means that 1000 calories of fat has just as much energy as 1000 calories of carbohydrate. The difference is in calorie density. Fat has 9 Calories per gram where as carbohydrate has 4 calories per gram. So if you eat 100 grams of fat you will have consumed 900 calories, but 100 grams of carbohydrate will only be 400 calories. So in terms of food volume/weight intake it is easier to get excess calories with fat.
Saturated and unsaturated fat have exactly the same number of calories. However, there is some evidence that suggests saturated fat is more likely to lead to healthy problems like cardiovascular disease.

Excess food energy is eventually stored in your body as fat. However, avoiding saturated fat is always a good thing, since it carries multiple health risks totally unrelated to having to chain yourself to the elliptical machine.
Your best bet is to eat sensibly (several small meals) and exercise regularly (as in, not just once a week).

Calories are burned in the form of fat, carbs, or protein/amino acids. In a moderate-high intensity workout, usually carbs are burned off first and once glycogen stores are depleted, fats are burned off, and once the fat is depleted which is rare (because you NEVER want to burn off muscle), protein is used for energy. Hope I helped!

if you're trying to lose weight you want to not consume carbohydrates from grain sources. only vegetables and fruits. grains bloat you and put you in 'starvation mode'.
calories measure the energy in food.. for example there's a certain amount of calories in a certain amount of fat.
if your fats are from good sources of fat, like monounsaturated fat (like in EXTRA VIRGIN olive oil) then that's a better source of fat. some saturated fat is ok like the kind in avocados and coconuts.

low intensity (walking, light weights/high reps) exercise will burn a greater amount of free fatty acids during the actual exercise session with a greater amount of glucose being utilized for energy after exercise. there is little to no increase in the resting metabolic rate here.
high intensity (running, heavy weights/moderate reps) exercise burns a greater amount of glucose during exercise but can cause a substantial increase in the resting metabolic rate for hours after exercise as the body attempts to restore it's self to the pre-exercise state.
kind of a no-brainer as to which one is optimum for decreasing body fat
