She is fairly young. I can't quite decide what breed she is. I would post a pic, but I can't find my digital camera. She has the coat of a pomeranian, looks like a teacup chihuahua in the face, and has ears like a papillon. Any ideas as to her breed? We had to get her off a busy road...she almost got hit several times. She is sweet...but fairly young.

Duh Im NOT going to keep her! She is well taken care of by her owners...whomever they are. She should be claimed by tomorrow...I put an ad in the paper and have done all the things to try and find her owners.
Besides....I have three dogs of my own and temporarily am watching two of my relatives dogs.

Ive found enough dogs to know how it works...have the "callers" identify her completely to make sure it is really theirs. All I put in the ad was found small dog on a certain street.
They will have to tell me the color, sex, and age of the dog.

Of course I will try my utmost to find the owners. Last week I lost my 16 y.o. chihuahua for two days...I couldn't function.

First of all, do not post her picture when trying to find her owner. That makes it too easy for the wrong people to come & just say she belongs to them. Wherever you post ads, just say it that it's a small dog & where it was found. When people call, ask them to describe the dog, to tell you if it's male or female and what its name is.
If you are going to hold on to her until you find the owner, you might want to take her to the vet to make sure she didn't pick up anything (like worms) on her adventure. Also, the vet can scan her for a microchip that will tell you who the owner is. The owner may be grateful you saved her & repay you.
If you don't intend to keep her if no owner shows up, don't hold on to her for too long. You don't want too much of a bond to form, making it harder on the pup when she has to leave. After 2 - 3 weeks, bring her to the ASPCA or another organization that takes in animals. This way, if no owner is found, they can put her up for adoption.
As far as breed goes, she sounds like she's possibly a long-haired chihuahua — they have ears very similar to those of a papillon.
Good luck.

Please try to find the owner. I have lost a puppy before and it's heartbreaking. Chances are she belongs to someone and she escaped the yard. Visit your humane society and ask if anyone has lost a dog with that description.
I have no clue what kind of dog it is but as the others here said a vet could probably help you figure it out to some degree.

I would say she is prob. a Long hair Chi and Pom mix. Long hair Chihuahuas have ears that look like Papillons. She sounds like a cute lil doggie. Makes sure you atleast take her to your local shelter to get scanned for a microchip. Good luck.

You can look at different dog breeds on http://www.dogbreedinfo.com and see what ones she looks most like. But I would bet she is a mix of some of the dogs you listed. She's lucky you picked her up!!!

You'll have to take her in to see the vet anyway. He or she will be able to tell you much more about the breed or mix. Without a picture, it would almost be impossible to tell you.

do not post found flyers - call your AC, police dept & HS with complete found info. do not take her door to door either. have your vet or shelter scan her for a chip.
when you find the owner - require some proof that it is their dog. & bring her tags along to get her.
she may be mixed or poorly bred

Mutt. Take her to a vet. She can tell a little. You also need to know if the dog is sick before you fall in love and she dies.

i don't really know anything about dogs although i would suggest looking at some professional breeders website and see what they think, you may be able to ask them the question.
