I thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Others here have said that it's just a movie, and that we have the choice to not watch it. And while that is true, we also have to right to voice our opinions here, and to those involved with the book and movie, including future commercial sponsors of such a project.
Like the article made reference to, I'd love to see "Opie" and Dan Brown write a book or make a movie that said something negative about Mohamed...and then we'll just wait and see how far they get. But they wouldn't dare make that movie.
Hatred of Catholics is the last acceptable form of bigotry in this country. And it appears to me that Dan Brown is the poster child for this. His intention isn't to entertain. His intention is to spread falsehoods against the Catholic Church, and disguise it as fiction. Anyone who denies this is only kidding themselves. And Dan Brown is laughing all the way to the bank.
The article also said, "As I mentioned, God does not appreciate being mocked. Nor does he look kindly on those who cause his children to sin."
Amen!

Let's set the record straight...The Da Vinci Code was not sold to the public as real. It was sold as a work of fiction. However it was based on a book call "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" , which was not fiction long story short it basically says what The Da Vinci Code does about the life of Jesus without all of the theatrics. Neither are necessarily hateful smears, they simply propose a different account for the life of Jesus, for a true believer in Jesus it would not matter. The bible was never ever meant to be taken literally. Did you know that there are hundreds of books left out of the bible? Do some research it's all out there. Stop taking everything for face value and learn a thing or two.

I don't mind fiction, but just like the DaVinci Code, it was admittedly fiction, sold as fiction, marketed as fiction.
But the number of people that now believe that Jesus has brothers and sisters and that Jesus was married is at an all time high. Odd that some will not even consider the possibility that Religion has a place in our lives will accept a fictional movie or book as fact.
Now we know why so many are so easily led astray.
Peace be with you all.

As a Catholic, I realize that movies and books will come out that neither the Church nor I will agree with. And I exercise my right not to buy them (or to go ahead and check them out, if I'm really that curious). I don't waste my time getting freaked out about slams against my religion, because they're a fact of life, and they come along quite frequently. I certainly don't lose any sleep over works of fiction. Instead of throwing a fit about things I disagree with, I just move on.

The Da Vinci Code wasn't anti-Christian. It's fictional. Just like other books or movies with a religious theme. The Exorcist movies weren't anti-Christian. Stigmata movies aren't anti-Christian. Movies with angels or saints aren't anti-Christian.

The catholic church do seem to be presenting a convenient target for some at the moment. Probably people, especially atheists, would love to target the middle eastern exponents of religious zealotry, but are being careful. The catholic church isn't going to bomb anyone if it gets criticised, fairly or unfairly.

The more Christians that protest against the film--the more publicity it gets--& the more successful it will be--Just look at The Last Temptation of Christ--or Harry Potter--they thrived on Christian protests

I thought Angels and Demons was a better book than the Da Vinci code.
But wow it's a slap in the face to catholicism. I mean, i'll definitely see the movie, because it's fiction.

Here's a quote from your link:
"Would Brown write a similar novel encouraging “debate” about the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion? Or “exploring” the idea that the Nazi Holocaust never happened?"
I find that ironic since it wasn't untill the 80's that the catholic church even took an offical position on the holocaust.

Oh, pull the crucifix out of your butt already. It's just a movie. Get over it. People mock my religion all the time and I hold my head high and ignore it.
