You will hear the crickets on this question.
Don't you know it's Pioneer Day, the biggest holiday (for Mormons) next to Christmas.
They are off doing what-ever it is they do for Pioneer Day (parade maybe...)

First of all, it is not "magical underwear." Garments are received by adult members of the church after they have taken out their endowments in the temple. They are meant as a reminder of the covenants made with the Lord. And those covenants are undoubtedly a priority to God.

Without their magic underwear they forget the promises they have made to God. At least that what they say- "It helps me remember the covenants I have made in the temple"
What would they do if all their underwear was in the wash? "I sinned greatly. I forgot what God wanted me to do because my underware was in the wash."
Wierd stuff. I hope they don't get offended by what I wrotte, but that is how they (YA mormons) explained it to me.

According to the Bible it is.
Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

I don't think it's any stranger than people in mainstream Christian religions wearing a cross, or people of the Jewish faith who wear their traditional dress. Many religions have specific symbols or icons that they wear to represent their faith.
Mormons just don't wear them where everyone can see. (At least, I hope not...LOL)
