The fallacy is that we are not talking about some ******* monster. If you don't think you are so ******* smart, then you will agree that there is mystery and wonder in our natural universe, life, etc. There is wonder in the laws of physics and biology. Do you ever wonder if there is a higher power?
By the way, i am an agnostic.

Based on what I have seen I think there is not god. Since I am unable to falsify the unfalsifiable so I am quite content to live as if there is no god. Even though I refer to myself as atheist I am technically agnostic--not by positive selection but by default. Furthermore, I believe the burden of proof lies with the claimant so I am perfectly comfortable calling myself an atheist.

The FSM is not an argument designed to "refute" theism. It is designed to refute Intelligent Design and, specifically, the claim by some ID'ers that the concept of science should be broadened to include "supernatural" explanations.
The FSM does this by positing an alternative explanation that is clearly absurd and yet fully meets the criteria put forward by ID'ers. This it does admirably. All the qualities put forward in favour of Intelligent Design are within the FSM model, the FSM model is irrefutable, and if you accept it as a scientific theory it is a better scientific theory than Intelligent Design (it not only explains the origins of life but gravity and global warming too).
The link below is to the text of Bobby Henderson's original letter to the Kansas School Board that started the whole thing off.

I'd say that a higher power that destroys most of the inhabitants of the Earth counts as a monster so Yahweh would fall into that category - but that was not your basic point.
The existence of mystery and wonder does not imply the existence of a higher power.
I find the taste of chocolate to be sublime, my dog would find it poisonous. Does this mean that a higher power decided to grant me the proper taste buds and to deny them to the dog?
In school I found the calculus to be mysterious. Is this because of a higher power (other than Newton)? Or was it just a lack of understanding? Is my wonder of the Brandenburg Concertos caused by a higher power (other than Bach)? Or is it just another example of human creativity?
I can contemplate with wonder the mystery and majesty of a thunderstorm without having to believe that Zeus or Thor or Yahweh or some other higher power is orchestrating it.

Most reasonable atheist I know are indeed awed by the wonder of our universe. What escapes me is the leap from there to a "higher power."
It seems a bit of misplaced narcissism: "There must be some super-intelligence that is like ours but MUCH more powerful."
Worse, facile explanations involving deities and such detract from the real mystery before us. There is very, very much of reality we are not even close to understanding - but we cannot allow ourselves to fill the gaps with chimera.

The evidence is exactly the same that the FSM is real as for any other god. Unless you can bring something else to the table other than an argument from ignorance (i.e. I don't understand something so god must have done it) then the comparison is valid.

Yeah, you sound agnostic. Anyway. Wondered, reached conclusion, there isn't one anything like any of these religions or any religion we are going to come up with, the end.

Sir, if there is a higher power, they certainly don't give a twit about what is going on here on earth. Look around you at the mayhem and slaughter, starvation, disease, birth defects and on and on.
