They're athiests. Why don't they just get on with their lives? Nobody's bothering them. They make the claim but they never substantiate it.

They are people who look at everything from the point of view of negative or inverted logic; it's not just religion. Look at their political comments. It's very clear what they're against. But very difficult to tell what they are for. They don't like Bush. They say it all the time. I spend more time talking about who I favor in 2008,saying I don't like Bush is stating the obvious, plus it's irrelevant; he;s a lame duck. I would imagine they never like any president, any party, any anything. I think they're just anti. Anti this, anti that. They just seem to have a totally negative value system. They're not obsessed with religion. They're just all-against it. Everything else, too. Except Lord of the Rings and maybe Star trek. I've never known an atheist to say anything good about anything else.
Very unpleasant people.

Shortly after this I was in the 2nd grade and I received 3 swats from the Principal of my public school for refusing to pray. The real reason I got the swats was when My teacher dragged me to the front of the class and asked me in front of everyone why I wouldn't pray I said "God is not real." I was dragged down to the Principals office and promptly received 3 swats.

I am this way because of the insanely religious right like the Pat Robertson's Jerry Falwell (good radiance) James Dobson, the Discovery Institute - all of whom have vast sums of cash and human resources to pass religious based laws that are a direct affront to the rights of all Americans. These people are the christian equivalent of the Taliban - or Talibabtists as I call them.

They are the same that say Atheist shouldn't have the right to vote.

That Homosexuals should be imprisoned or executed.

That non-Christians should be re-educated or imprisoned.

The list just goes on and on and on and .....

These people and their supporters are evil and people like myself have an American Civic duty to be active and fight their ways of hate, intolerance and ignorance.

For if not America Land of the Free would die and become Christland, home of the imprisoned and the afraid.

Ironically atheists seldom make reference to the atheistic zealots like Mao and Stalin who bothered anyone who didn't agree with them who couldn't defend themselves. They more often than not choose to ignore these characters because it doesn't fit into the scheme meanwhile portraying most religionists as terrorists. At least we can admit some have been and Christians can say they certainly never found that behaviour in the life and teachings of Christ. Yet people of faith are often painted with the same brush of shoving their beliefs down everyone else's throats. Yet the irony is they come on mass to categories labelled religion and spirituality with mouth's ajar to cry about having our beliefs shoved down their throats. Make no mistake some of these loudest critics of rights would gladly take away your rights as they have done in many of the communist countries and in our own education system. Many of them don't want a balanced reasonable conversation they want to control radio man. What also amazes me is they rightly point out the gullibility of some of the believers and their extremeness and while conversely never questioning what they are swallowing.

Once again you are presuming too much.....

Nobody's bothering them....I have christians coming to my door to "save" me all the time! I am hit up on the streets by people selling Jesus like he is a used car.

I also can say that I am not obsessed with religion, although as a sociological phenomena it is quite fascinating.

BTW what claim do they make?

This is going to sound a little hard but this is the way it is:

Since they are not serving the Lord they are serving Satan.

Satan wants to make believers fall away from God.
Atheists want the same thing.

Grendel, you are a Christian, what does Scripture tell you. What does your Catholic Doctrine tell you. What do you think?

Your friend in Christ.

What is this, the 100th time I've heard that stereo type? Atiests are not obsessed with religion! They are perfectly nice people who are obsessed with not having a religion!

You really need to straighten out your priorities.

I am not an Athiest, I'm a Mormon.

It's not true that nobody's bothering us. You may be one of the good ones who believes that each person has a right to follow his own conscience in matters of spirituality, but not everyone does. Many theists are bound and determined to impose their superstitions and prejudices on everyone around them. Those are the people we oppose, and so should you.

I can't speak as an Atheist, since I'm Agnostic, but I can speak as a non-Christian, and if you're asserting that we're never bothered by people of faith, particularly fundamental Christians, you've never walked a mile in our shoes, trust me.

nobody's BOTHERING us huh??

what about all the laws that conservative right wing fundies are trying to pass or trying to overturn because they want everyone to be forced into believing what they do?

what about getting fired from one's job by a christian boss because you ahve a different religion?

what about being threatened with being burned alive? (and i'm not talking "you're going to hell" line, i'm talking "i've got lighter fluid & i'm not afraid to use it" talk).

when no religion is trying to either control or take my life, when MY life is MINE to determine without other people's inane beliefs trying to control it, then i'll just get on with my life.

Stop politicizing religious beliefs and most atheists would leave you alone. Take church out of politics, stay out of other people's wombs, shut up about gay marriage and enjoy religion in your own way, leaving everyone else their personal freedoms.
