your church should have a catechism program (it leads to confirmation) that you can participate in and the groups are all high school students.music some good christian artists are Sanctus Real, Matt Kearney, and Mae there are others that you probably already heard of but didn't know that they were christian artists Switchfoot, and Reliant K being two of them.

I always thought that it would be cool to have a nun or priest as a pen pal. Just someone to talk to about God or whatever. I'm sure you could find something like that on google.
Prayer is a very good way to feel closer to God. Or maybe you could start a God journal, every other night or so you could write whatever you want to God or about how you're feeling spiritually.
Sorry I don't know about any books that help someone feel closer to God, but there are books about the catholic doctrine that would help you feel closer to the catholic religion.

I'd recommend "What Catholics Really Believe: Setting the Record Straight" by Karl Keating.
It's an easy read and it's a great explanation of the Catholic faith.
If you want something longer and more challenging to read, try "Catholicism and Fundamentalism: The Attack on 'Romanism' by 'Bible Christians'." It's also by Keating.
It explains Catholicism very well, and defends it against fundamentalist Christian attacks.
You can probably buy both books on Amazon.com.
Both books had a great deal to do with my becoming a devout Catholic, after having been a lukewarm one for most of my life.

I think you would like "Classic Christianity" by Bob George. There are plenty of contemporary Christian music stations out there now, and you may be surprised by the variety of styles. You may consider making some Christian friends... or going to a church and joining their youth group.
Of course, the best way is to simply read more about Him in the Bible and talking with Him in prayer. It is His will that all will come closer so He can love us, and for us to love Him. Ask that He reveal himself and ways that you can be closer to Him... he will! It really is about having a relationship with the living God, and that no person or religion can do for you.

If you want to be "closer to god", I can't help you. If you want to know more about god, I can. In essence, if you seek the truth about god, and/or about the religions that profess to speak for this god, try these:
http://www.godisimaginary.com
The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins
Letter To A Christian Nation by Sam Harris
The End Of Faith by Sam Harris.
If you are "afraid" to view materials such as this, then you can't possibly expect to have a true, rational faith in your god.

Get connected with a local youth group-
Find a Christian bookstore in your area-they have a great teen Bible out now that reads like a magazine. For guys, its called Refuel, and for girls its called Revolve
Great Christian groups-Reliant K, Hillsong, Thousand Foot Crutch, Casting Crowns.

you can try this book :Letters from God for teens. Its really good, theres a whole bunch of topics about trust, love, resisting temptation, and lots more. In the book, for each topic, theres a letter and its like God is speaking to you and each letter is provided by a whole bunch of memory verses from the Bible. I highly recommend it :)
One more thing, i tried to look for the name of the author and i came across the name Melody Carlson. She wrote the manuscripts for the book so i guess shes considered the author.

hey, my whole life I was raised catholic, but we never really were all that serious about it. When my faith diminished, my friend recommended that I try her denomination's way of teaching the word of god, and I find that the youth groups we go to every week really help. They're uplifting, without making you feel bad about yourself. At ours, hundreds show up. You might even make some new friends in the process!!!
