Every psychic I've ever seen on tv seems self deluded and full of it. Why do so many people think some people have psychic powers?

i don't know why people would believe in psychics. sometimes people are just desperate and think that the only way they will get answers is if they ask someone who says they can see the future. but think about it, if psychics were real, then psychics would be winning the lottery every week and i haven't seen that happen yet...

I think there is a possibility it could be real. Yeah, the ones that show up on daytime television are a bunch of phonies, but consider this: the CIA ran very serious studies on psychic ability and even used them with some success, even rescuing a kidnapped general by using "remote viewers". I find the possibility to be very real, but have yet to see it actually in use beyond that.

I got one of those believers good the other day. They asked if anyone here was psychic and if so asked if this guy liked her or something, and to prove you were psychic to describe that guy. I replied with a description of the average male - "tall, short dark hair, dark eyes, athletic build. email me for the truth" Sure enough, i guessed right and she emailed me asking her fate. I replied with "You want to know the truth? Prepare yourself: psychics don't exist. I guessed, just like they would."
Hopefully i knocked some sense into her.

Same as all the people who answered this question, people you refer to believe what they choose to believe.
Many don't know, as is true of several answerers, what they're talking about.
Same as with their religious doctrines and most other aspects of their lives.
You don't have to know how to lift the hood to check the oil, or change the spark plugs, to drive a car and know all there is to know about the subject.
Same with most other aspects of modern human life, including psychics.

There are some authentically gifted psychics and some frauds. Because people's minds have opened and realized there is more to life then what is smack in their faces.

LOL I think because they want to "feel" something and are too lazy or oppressed, to seek what having a relationship with God will do for them.
I also think they need validation for acting and thinking the way they do...but, mostly? well, because it has a "flavor" of being something that is "mystical".
Ask God...He can tell you all about it...and satan would LOVE for you to ask HIM.......
