There so many street cats in our neighborhood. Is there any service we can call so they can come and pick them up to a shelter? I couldn't find anything on Google. Maybe I just don't know what it's called, in order to do the right search. Thanks for all the answers.

It sure would help if you would indicate what town or city you are in. Do you have a Petco or a PetSmart in your town? Do they have cats for adoption in them? If so, the people who have the cats up for adoption are not a part of the store, and they are rescuers. They may be able to come and trap some of the cats for you and get them in the pipeline to adoption. When you googled, did you google "cat rescue" and the name of your town or the nearest large town? Did you google no-kill shelters? If you really can't find anybody at all in your area to help, you can try calling Best Friends in Kanab, Utah. They are this huge place that takes animals from all over the country, all kinds of animals. Families take vacations there to do volunteer work with the animals. They are hooked in with rescuers all around the country, and they may know about somebody in your community or area.

I don't know if this helps or not. I certainly hope it does. Cats are addictive, and people who rescue them are passionate about saving these amazing little lives. So if there is someone or a group of someones in your community or a nearby community, I am sure they will help you out.

Good luck

In certain places there are. I'd call your local Animal Control agency, humane society or ASPCA and ask. We have a non-profit organization in our area that provides the humane traps - you have to do the trapping but the organization teaches you how and then once you catch them, gets the cats spayed and neutered and placed on homes, ranches and farms as mousers. They are feral (wild) and cannot be placed as pets, but euthanizing actually does not compeltely solve the problem. If the cats are euthanized, the ones that remain just breed faster because the food supply is better, so its actually better to put spayed and neutered cats back into the population to slow down the breeding rate.

Are they strays, or just loose? Sometimes cats just get out (and sometimes owners let them out). You don't want to break some poor kid's heart when their kitty doesn't come home.

Make sure they are stray and then look for the local animal shelter. You can probably catch them easily by using cat food to lure them into a cage/container. (assuming you feel safe enough to do so). Then bring them to a shelter so they can find good, loving homes.

Poor kitties.

Check the animal control site for your city. Most cities have trap and neuter programs. You would have to do the majority of the work, in terms of getting them to the clinic, but at least they would not be having babies.
Check cat rescue organizations in your area. They could give you more information about what is available in your city.

You can call your local humane society or ASPCA. It is true that these places will likely have to put them to sleep if they are too old and cannot be retrained out of their feral ways. But, you never know and in any case, it's better than having them run around creating more kittens and/or risk the possibility of them becoming rabid.

Sometimes you can dig deeper and find "no kill" shelters but not all cities/towns have them.

Good luck! And, thanks for caring!

Contact your local county animal control and see if they will come out and trap the cats.--some will some won't.
They are better off dead at the shelter than being left to breed more unwanted cats.

Check with your local SPCA or Humane Society and see if they have a spay/neuter release program. They set traps for the cats, get them fixed and when they are healed release them. Most ferral cats are unadoptable. A spay/neuter release program is the best way to solve this problem.

Your best bet is to probably leave them to the police/animal control.Cats can be dangerous because of their sharp teeth and claws.Look in your phone book for an animal control or somethign to help those cuties off of the streets.

If they do they will probably just euthanize them....I doubt they could find good homes to cats like that...too wild
