Mat 10:34 "Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
Mat 10:35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
Mat 10:36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household.
-----------------------
The sword symbolizes the division between believers and non believers .. and that's what Paul confirmed in his teaching. 1 Cor 5:1-13.

You are taking the reading out of context. He is talking about severing the relationship with parents and becoming your own person in following him, not about killing them in the literal sense, read the WHOLE chapter.
Would you like me to cherry pick verses out of the quran now?
Look at the example of Jesus, if he wanted war, he would have raised an army and would have never been crucified.
Peace be with you!

The sword you refer to is the (WORD OF GOD) Bible. Words are the divisiveness. There will be some who believe the old way--JUDISM--and they will hold on to that belief. Enought to seperate families. Jesus says Mat 10:34 "Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
Mat 10:35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
Mat 10:36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household
At the onset of Jesus ministry these words were spoked.
The sword paul speaks of is the word of the lord
The Christian morality. There is no mention of sword as to family or non-believer. You cannot assure context that is non-existence
A. Paul's Condemnation of Sexual Immorality--Incest (5:1-13)
What does incest have to do with non-believers?

The passage does not mention who would be the aggressor in this divided house, only that there would be division. Christ's radical message of humility, self-sacrifice and love of enemies can be very threatening to those who expect their family members to have an "understanding" about things, favoring their common interests over those of outsiders. But Jesus defines "family" not as relatives but as "those who do my Father's will." It's not the families he rejects but the favoritism they often generate. That's where the "sword" comes from, the resentment of those who may lose their special status. "Anyone who loves father or mother MORE than me is not worthy of the kingdom," Jesus says. The priority is building the kingdom of God, not making cozy arrangements. And some people are bound to resist.

Both - peace that comes from the indwelling Holy Spirit and also the division that comes with preaching the good news about salvation. You can see the division in the answers on this forum.

Both:
Peace comes to those who believe in him. Peace is the absence of war/conflict and by trusting Jesus, our war with God is over.
He came to bring division, too, because following Jesus has its costs. Many won't agree with your walk and that will certainly cause a lot of pain.

It simply means you cannot remain neutral -you must make a choice - you either accept Him or you reject Him and those in the same household may or may or not make the same choice. This would make them enemies in the fight of light vs. darkness.

Jesus came to bring peace. He was calling for them to focus on him and not all around. Those who accepted Him might be rejected by other family members. Remember that all He taught was rejected by the Jews and if you were accepting Him you were against your religion.

Jesus is called the "Prince of Peace" in Scripture, but he warned that his message would cause division and persecution for his followers, and it has.
