How tall are you?

I don't think that 58 pounds is a realistic goal for you at your age. Chances are, you're probably going to stay around that weight (you might get down to 150, which I think it's a realistic goal for you) but you'll get taller between now and HS.

While weight IS important, I think that HEALTH is MORE important. Ask your parents to help you eat a healthier diet of lean proteins, veggies, fruits, fibers, whole grains, etc.

Lots of water and excersize are going to help you drop the pounds but I worry that with such an unrealistic goal, and with your moving into puberty soon you're going to be disappointed when you don't lose all the weight you want. So that's why I say you need to focus more on size and health then what the scale says.

When I was 13, I was 5'0" and I weight about 125, between then and when I started HS, I went from being 5'0 to 5'6" and gained about ten pounds. Through HS, I went from 5'6" to 5'8" and gained another ten pounds and in college, I went from 5'8 to 5'9 1/2" inches (stopped growing now, obviously) and gained about 15-20 pounds. What I'm trying to say is that you're going to gain weight and add inches, so you should focus more on being HEALTHY....that is, eating right and exercising.

I am angry at how rude people can be. I have lost 24 pounds, if I can do it, you can too. Don't listen to those people who are calling you names, until they are perfect only they are the ones who can judge.

You want to be 120 pounds, or around there, well unfortunately that goal is a little too high right now, and you'll be setting yourself up for failure. I think 150 pounds would be a good weight for you and you could get there by the time school starts with proper eating and excercise. Don't count calories, there is more to food than calories, look at how much fat the food has, sugar, and cholesterol. You will benefit from this in more ways then one, even if you don't get to the weight you want. Think, "I'll lose the weight when I lose it".

Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week, even half a pound is fine, the slower you lose it, the better you are to keep off the weight afterwards. Remember to also get at least 30 minutes of excercise each day. Cut your portions in half, instead of two pieces of cake, have one. You don't need alot of food to have a taste. Use smaller plates to make it seem like there is more food on the plate. Stay away from junk food and replace all unhealthy snacks with fruits and vegetables.

Good luck!

Hello sweetie, since you are a child still, you need advice from a nutritionist or your pediatrician. You are also in the puberty years, any diet you submit yourself to can really hurt or even kill you. Do you jog or ride a bike? Maybe that'll be the only things I would recommend.

You can't take medications or eat less unless you ask your doctor.

I have though heard that if you sleep 12 hours a day you CAN lose weight because those hours that you're sleeping you wont be eating ;)

Low fat foods rarely work and they contain sacharin which in the long run can cause cancer, so I would stay away from that too. No one here is an expert on your health, the only one who knows your body health more than anyone is your doctor.

Talk to your parents about this and ask them for help. Believe it or not, they will help you greatly :)

Read labels, eat low calorie snacks like 100 calorie packs or light yogurt, don't drink soda its empty calories drink v8 or some type of juice, or water or seltzer, walk for a half an hour per day and/or run on a treadmill or ride your bike or a stationary bike or even just break a sweat by dancing for a half an hour or jumping around. eat smaller portions and chew gum or a mint to resist eating just for the sake of eating. remember, dieting takes time and commitment you probably won't be at your ideal weight by the time high school starts but you may've lost a few pounds. good luck. don't forget to have a candy bar or something sweet once in awhile as a treat. but remember portion sizes.

First of all, don't aim to be 120 lbs before school starts. Losing that much weight in such a short period of time is unhealthy and you are more likely to gain it back easier. This is called yo yo dieting. Try to lose around 10 lbs a month. Aerobic exercise ( like running or jumprope) is far more helpful in losing weight than anaerobic exercise( like lifting weights). Second of all, don't set unrealistic goals for yourself. Depending on you height, you may need to weigh more than 120 in order to be healthy.

And last of all, even if you struggle and fail, persist! Don't give up. Talk to your friends and get support. It's hard to lose weight, but don't give up and eventually you'll get there.

Oh, and drink LOTS OF WATER!! It makes you feel full, and I heard that drinks two cups of really cold water burns 200 calories because your body burn calories warming it up.

More tips :
Count calories
Drink Green Tea ( with splenda or sweet n low if you want, don't believe all those rumors)
Stay away from junk food, sodas, bacon, anything fried, fast food especially, eggs or anything with high transfat or loaded with calories
Eat lots of fruit, vegetable, fish, and chicken

Do NOT stop eating, start drinking more water for sure. I weighed 120# in the 3rd grade..., yeah, I was the one always being made fun of. Now I am 5'7" and around 150#, that's after 2 children and 3 open abdomen surgeries. Don't fret is what I am trying to tell you. Your body has a certain weight guideline that it will be and stay at once you are an adult, as for now, you are going to see many, many changes...., Honey enjoy being a kid. :)

That my friend is imposible. Losing weight is no joke and requires a lot of determination and hard work. You must have the courage and discipline to loose weight. The first step is to become determined. You have to wake up every single morning and say, I DO NOT LIKE THE WAY I AM. I WILL CHANGE THAT. Everything about you must change. The way you eat, the way you talk, and the way you think. You have to eat in smaller portions and different foods. You must never give up and show that in the way you talk. Instead of saying "I'm getting fatter", say "DAMN, did I lose some weight. Instead of thinking that your efforts are futile, get it in your head that in one year, you'll be skinnier than Paris! Diet and exersise are all mental. Once you find your rythm(which can take 1 month), pain will be eliminated.

You'd be surprised how a regular diet can help you maintain a healthy weight. Be sure to include whole grains, fruits, vegetables, dairy, and protein.

Also, an exercise program that raises your heart rate is crucial to burning fat. Warm-up with a jog/run, and then try some weight/resistance training to promote the building of target muscle groups.

When does highschool start for you? In September? That's not enough time. It'll take about 6 months to lose the 60 lbs you want and keep it off. Simply eat healthy portions of all food groups and exercise. You are young and the weight will drop fast.
