A healthy, planned evening snack will help you to avoid overeating unhealthy foods. To keep your metabolism fired up and your energy levels up try to eat something nutritious every 3-4 hours. A perfect snack includes protein, whole grain, and a fruit or veggie. Stock your room/desk with healthy choices. Try some of the following:
Pita Chips/salsa/ hummus
Crunchy cereal (Kashi Go Lean Crunch is yummy) yogurt and crushed pineapple
Whole grain bread with peanut butter
Nuts and dried fruit (try almonds, walnuts, raisins, dried cranberries)
Light Cheese, reduced fat triscuits (or Kashi crackers) and red grapes
Luna Bars (my favorite flavor is Nutz Over Chocolate)
Chicken (try the canned white meat), mix with balsamic vinegar and olive oil; and wrap in whole grain pita. Try adding spinach, if available and roasted red peppers (jar)
Cottage cheese, reduced fat triscuits and baby carrots
Oatmeal, add a little peanut butter and sugar or art. sweetener...

snacks consumed between meals should be protein based or vegetables. you don't want to disrupt serum insulin levels too much between meals and carbohydrates have the greatest effect on increasing serum glucose and serum insulin levels.

controlling insulin is the KEY to reducing the body fat % and to increasing lean muscle mass
