They need a bed time routine. which starts after supper.
Bath- pajamas- quite play time- snack-(and if they listened to you in the last two hours a few books then bed. Which should take you up to around 9:00p.m.
Where they know who the boss is. If it isn't you then. It's them. But when a routine at bed isn't enough. During the day dig your heels in and say NO. "The two of you wouldn't go to sleep for me last night, and I had to fight with you so no park - no movies- no ect".

my son was like this who is 2 and a half now. I put him in his room and said he could play for a little while then i would go in there and say it is now time to sleep! I put something above his bed on the celling so he has something to look at and then goes to sleep! I had to do it for a week or so and now he is in the routine i do not need to tell him when to go to sleep!

Put them to bed for goodness sake. Children don't know when they are tired, they will just get more and more hyper the tireder they get. Even in the holidays my 7 year old is in bed by 8pm and allowed to read till 9pm - then it's lights out even if he complains he's not tired - I mean, who is the parent here anyway?

routines often help. having them in bed at the same time or close everynight. You could also try to get them to wind down with a bath, read them books with a small lamp on, lullabies or classical music with the lights out, also stories on cd really work well.

Do you have a regular plan for nights they don't want to wind down? We have a 3 year old, and the rule for her is that if she isn't tired at naptime or bedtime, she's allowed to look at books as long as she stays in her bed, and stays quiet.

maybe you should get them to lay down and watch a movie with the lights turned off and instead of giving them like pop corn and coke give them water or milk. That will get them to sleep for sure!

it's probably the fact that it is the school holidays and may be they were up a little bit later in the morning so they won't be tired...

my heart goes out to you. I have a 3 and 4 yr old who are sound asleep, but only because they were up till double figures last night. i don,t think i have any hair left, they were driving me up the wall. if all else fails bribe them, i know i,ll get criticism for saying that but desperate times call for desperate measures. good luck. :) XXXXX
