Is it so hard to understand that maybe people like to have their own beliefs and maybe christanity is not something they want to believe in?

Explain yourself.

It's not their fault. The men who wrote the bible centuries ago made sure to say that it was the duty of all Christians to spread the word.

Surprisingly, an added benefit to that clause was increased church membership.

And atheists don't do this?

If I had a dollar for every time an atheist attacked my beliefs unprovoked or thought I needed to know what an idiot I was for believing what I do and how much better it is to be an atheist... I'd be a rich man. What's the difference? Maybe atheism is something I don't want to believe in. Is THAT so hard to understand? Explain yourself.

In any case, I don't go around preaching to people. If someone asks me about my beliefs, or I am in a forum (like this one) that invites opinions on the subject, then I'm happy to oblige. I think you are stereotyping Christians and labeling them with something that is clearly not Christian-specific, though Lord knows there are plenty of us who live up to the bad press. So I guess I don't completely blame you!

I am a Christian but often I don't preach about religion or God to anyone but believers. There are many people in the world who want to help and save others. Whenever someone preaches about religion to others, they just want to help them.
I have never pushed my beliefs onto others. I have helped many people by talking to them and hearing them out and I make sure to keep religious preachings out of it because of just what you said. Some people don't want to hear it rather it be because they don't believe or they feel God can't or won't help them.
Who wants to be preached at all the time? So I respect others and give advice without religious involvement unless they are religious.
Not all Christians are the same and some like any religion, have fanatics and go way too far! Just keep in mind that no one is perfect, no matter how much some people act like it. ^_^

I never preach to any one who doesn't want to hear what I have to say. I don't believe in forcing a belief. If a person has an open ear I can fill it up. If they seemed irritated its not meant to be at that time. I do get tired of people with your same line of questioning stereo-typing Christians. Not all Christians are pushy, hypocrites, or fanatics. Some actually have a lot of common sense.

Christians follow the command to "go into all the world and preach the good news" what we call the Great Commission. Of course people often don't want to hear it because they want to live without the rules that God has set. Christians believe that those who reject the savior Jesus Christ have condemned themselves to hell and we really don't want that for anyone. This is a hard message and an unpopular one no doubt, but disbelief or refusal to believe doesn't negate the truth of the matter. You could check out this reference:

Mark Chapter 6 verse 11
11And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

No where int the NT have I ever see reference to keeping on people about Christianity. It seems to say "If they don't want to listen, move along, they will get what their actions dictate"

There is obviously something that keeps you logging in to Religion and Spirituality. Other wise, why are you here? As long as you continue here, even if its just to criticize my Religion, I will continue to write to you about the greatness of God's Love. I will never stop writing about the sacrifice The Lord has done for you. About how God is waiting for you to realize that He loves you so much that He shed His precious blood for you. God wants you to be happy, He wants you to have eternal life and all you have to do is believe.
My job is not to convert you, my job is to let you know that there is a God that loves you.

Everyone who is complaining and making fun might not realize it,. but something is making you come back day after day. Maybe The Lord is trying to tell you something. Stop trying to fight Him and accept the fact that everyone needs God in their lives.
God Bless

I am called to, as part of my faith, to evanglize in order to draw together those people that God has called to himself. Now, if the elect were to walk around with a purple stripe on their backs I would go around lifting shirtails and not bother you or others that are offended by the message I have to share. Since they do not, I have to be willing to share with everyone, including you. Since I cannot see into your heart or your future, I do not know if you are now or will be at some time called to God. So I err on the side of caution.

It is not my job to make you think the way I do (that's God's job). My job is to share the news.

Sure. Lots of people will never believe.

But hey, if you really believe something is actually true... not just truth for ME but universally true... of course you're going to continue to hold out hope that others will come to see the truth.

Does that not make intellectual sense? I know you don't agree with Christianity... but surely you can deal in hypothetical.

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served for 2 years as a missionary for my church. On that mission as well as during my missionary efforts before and after I have been asked that many times, easily over 1,000 times, maybe even 10,000. Many of those people got angry at me for approaching them and pestering them about religion, when it was my first time ever talking to them. One common source of that Irritation was me showing up at there door after some other religion had previously been there several times. On thing I wish people would remember is that there are more religions that go out and actively do missionary work than just Latter-Day Saints, but the Jehovah's Wittinesses and Latter-Day Saints are the most commonly known about. There is no feasible way for anyone to keep track of what the various efforts are of the all the various religious sects that actively proselyte. While I know that the Latter-Day Saints missionary efforts are carefully tracked and organized I do not believe that could be said of any other religious sect. I could be wrong on that sentiment but from what I have seen it does not appear so. Latter-Day Saints Believe that we have been commissioned by God to "go into all the world to preach my gospel unto every creature" and given that commandment we cannot be true to our faith and stop our proselyting activities. Another common source of people getting angry at me for talking with religion is, as near as I can figure, the person is so opposed to the concept of religion that their hatred for it, many times, borders on an unhealthy level. The question I have for those people is, "How am I to know they do not want to talk about religion until I ask them first?"
On the flip side of things, I know of many unfortunate incidents where people, both in my church and outside of my church did actually pester an individual they were trying to "convert". That is an unfortunate side effect of living in an unperfect world. I can tell you that my church is doing all within its power to prevent that from happening. But the unfortunate reality is that until everyone on earth is perfect then we will have to continue to deal with things we do not like. So the only thing I can tell you is to try to be a bit more patient and understanding with those around you. The world as a whole could benefit from following that counsel in my opinion.
Edit: Some advice I try to give to my fellow Christians, relating to missionary work, is to go in the spirit of love and kindness. You will offend a lot less people that way, and have a lot more succes in your labors.

Beacuse we want to, we chose to, we were told to by God.
And the fact that on here, there are actualy a few people that are actualy looking for the Truth on here.

Why do you contenue to try to stop us?
you sound defensive. why would you be so defensive unless you dont like being confronted by the truth, those in dark dont understand the light. so you get afraid and run from it.
I understand.
